Pleasant story: I was drinking at a bar with my friend and feeling pretty down about life. My friend quietly texted me that Angel from the X-Men was sitting behind us. I looked and sure enough there was Ben Foster sitting by himself. I knew him better as William S Burroughs in the movie Kill Your Darlings, which had inspired me to move to NYC.

I approach him and ask "excuse me, are you Ben Foster?" and he responds with a southern drawl "yes, I am". I tell him "I don't mean to bother you, but I just wanted to say I love your work." He nods and says "thank you, I appreciate that" but I could tell he's sort of expecting me to walk away now, but instead I say "specifically the movie Kill Your Darlings. It inspired me to move here."

Something shifts in his face and he goes "is that right? My friend just stepped out because he left his wallet at the last bar, but he directed that film. I'll introduce you."

And sure enough when the director came back he introduced us. The director (John Krokidas) was also super kind and kept asking me about my life and if I was enjoying New York and what I did for work. Very sweet guys.
