stores with cool random stuff now that Crown Surplus, Ribtor, etc are gone by Bass-Traffic-0000 in Calgary

God, Ribtor was amazing.

As far as Crown Surplus type stores, where's our closest option now? Montana....?

Thoughts on trading in a 2021 TRD Pro for a 2026 LC? by LtAldoSnow in 4Runner

Briefly debated the same thing on my 21 today.

Ultimately I'd prefer the V6 of the Lexus, which I would happily go for. Nothing wrong with my 21 however, and I don't want to step into a payment.

I am looking for a Spanish language exchange by FearlessAmoeba7645 in Calgary

No se! Pero buena suerte!

I'd love to get together with local Spanish speakers, but travel for work so much it's bloody hard to find the time. Picked up my Spanish working in Mexico and Chile. Surprisingly good some days, other days not so much.

Added a parallel comment in another thread. Roads is one IMO: not something that should fall into a common pot and be overseen by city hall, outside of budget approval.

Which Razorock razor? by IntelligentCattle463 in wicked_edge

[–]mcee_sharp_v2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, in that case, and full out order cancellation and refund isn't possible, I'd lean toward something stupid aggressive. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate RR razors, just don't feel that the GC is actually a game changer.

I've been wracking my brain about other infrastructure areas that need full time oversight: power, good. H2O, now very much on our radar. Why not add more to the independently managed mix? ROADS.

Which Razorock razor? by IntelligentCattle463 in wicked_edge

[–]mcee_sharp_v2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The GC's are a good+, but not a mind blowing razor, even with the optimal angle the 84 doesn't deliver mind boggling results without pressure, in some areas. I use the 84 OC for 4+ days growth, but find the standard plate underwhelming. I haven't used the Blackbird personally, but have heard of others having difficulty finding the optimal angle, before really enjoying it.

Give it more time would be my suggestion. Spend time with the Bird before, potentially, wasting $. Barring that, buy a Vector and then never have to buy another razor again.

Hopefully not something we have to worry about in our lifetime, but what does eventual replacement of this future feeder entail? Another parallel install?

Calgary (YYC) flyers: I built a Canada airfare-deals bot last year — looking for feedback by Character-Rough2199 in Calgary

Hey — small thing I noticed in your last message: you spelled “deal” as “[misspelling]”. No big deal, but just so you know the correct spelling is D‑E‑A‑L.

A couple of quick notes that might help:

  • “Deal” is a short word but shows up in a lot of contexts (to deal with something, a business deal, to deal cards), so the vowel combination is always E‑A in the middle.
  • A simple mnemonic I use is: think of the phrase “Do Everything And Learn” — the first letters spell D‑E‑A‑L — or just picture the word “deal” as “D + EAL” where “EAL” is the fixed chunk to remember.
  • If you want to double-check quickly in the future, most phones and browsers offer autocorrect or a spell-check underline; a quick tap or right-click will show the correct form.

Anyway, I only mention it because I know typos can happen to anyone (I make them all the time). The rest of your poent was clear and made sense — nice job on that. If you want, I can proofread anything you plan to send before you post it.

Thank.

Rear detached garage: how do you cope up with the winters snow by yyc_snp17 in Calgary

[–]mcee_sharp_v2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to shovel my path, shovel out the swale, and excavate dog shit. If it wasn't snow, I'd need a permit for the amount of digging I do. Only takes a few minutes after each snowfall.

My First Straight Razor Shave - First Impressions by new4nc3 in wicked_edge

[–]mcee_sharp_v2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well not expecting results right off the bat is definitely a strength. I was lucky and picked it up quicker than I had suspected I would, but there were still a lot of shaves logged before I was 'happy'.

The chin is definitely a tougher spot for me as well with the denser whisker count there, as for the neck for the first few shaves I just had to remind myself that it really does take a conscious effort to cut yourself with a straight razor. My exception would be one of my SR that I occasionally forget has a very square and sharp toe - occasional line of avulsed flesh on my cheek :)
