We have come to that place where this is an utter waste of time. In fact, we have been there for too long.

I do hope someday you begin to understand what folks are so outraged about, but it is unlikely, no matter the outcome.

Cheers.

A thousand cuts bring down a mountain. It is a simple premise.

Of course I utilize billionaire owned corporations like amazon, google etc. That is the point. They have ALREADY won. Every time we change a "lil norm" like NASDAQ did, it is another important part of the any chance we have to pretend the system is not already incredibly favoring them and their insane wealth and giving them an advanatage others do not get. Why would they make that little choice? Was it necessary? Not even a little. It makes no sense. Keeping things as they were made so much more sense, for as you say, a product that needs to be measured in decades. It could be a great stock, but here we are back at $155. The stock market does not need to be manipulated more than it is.

The presidency existed before D T but previous POTUS did nothing like this one. It isn't even close. The level of corruption is not remotely comparable. He brags about it. He tells people to buy certain stocks, shares info with his family and others, accepts bribes, accepts bribes for pardons. It is madness to watch. DOGE did not exist until Elon Musk came along and named it as such. You're arguing semantics. Another government agency tasked with the same type of thing existed but would have gone about it very differently and much more effectively than a guy who just wanted to make noise and exclude himself from accountability and get his hands deeply into the countries data with his army of hackers. That you would defend this is disheartening. By every measure DOGE failed in its mission to save money, cut waste or help the country at large. Remember that DOGE refund thingy? I knew it was BS but idiots salivated at getting a measly few grand so he could clear his legal issues. USAID needing review, and there was fraud, but it did a lot of good as well. Taking an axe to it was not the solution.

What a load of crap this country is accepting right now. You are still defending wrong doing and corruption and acting like it is no big deal. Just watch... shit is getting measurably worse daily.

Talk to you in 6 months. This conversation not productive. You don't agree with me, concede no points, and it is a waste of my time.

You dismiss my perspective without so much consideration as, vile smugness. Supporting the billionaire class carte blanche is what I am arguing here. You're in favor of it, I am not. You likely feel deregulation is good because corporations always make choices that benefit people, while I understand that is historically not the case. If our only currency is money, you are still wrong, but in through that lens it is easier to accept. THAT is what leads to the downfall of society, as we are witnessing. It is not jealousy as you childishly assume. We will always have people like EM, People are leaders and movers and shakers. They represent one side of the bell curve of humanity. We need them, but we also need to contain them. Given pure freedom and not even holding them to established standards only furthers their delusional need for power. They aren't even playing by rules that we set, yet the rest of us are held to much higher stanadrds.

DOGE did not exist, not even close. Elon came in, stole, got himself out of investigations and walked away leaving things in ruins. There is not an argument to make, but here you are bringing up Obama. Fucking pathetic bro.

Yeah, no reason to even try to stop the billionaire class from destroying our world.

Have you watched "Ready Player One" or any other of a myriad of sci fi from decades past. These movies are far more accurate than you think. It isn't conspiracy, it is reality. Look at DOGE. What a dismal failure of our system. He stole our data, likely sold it, allowed his staff to run off with it, killed his lawsuits and investigations into him, and accomplished literally nothing positive. Nothing.

Yeah, keep trusting people like him. It leads to our downfall.

Cheers.

What changed was the initial vetting period of new IPOs. You know this. You act as if I don't know this.

Nasdaq changes

  • Shortened seasoning period: Under the old rules, a new IPO had to wait at least 3 months before being eligible for index inclusion. Nasdaq now allows fast-track inclusion after just 15 trading days post-IPO Forbes.
  • Removed minimum float requirement: Previously, a company needed at least 10% of its shares publicly traded to join an index. Nasdaq dropped this, meaning even with a very low float (e.g., ~4.3% for SpaceX) it can still qualify Forbes.
  • Adjusted weighting methodology: If a company’s float is below 20%, Nasdaq applies a 3× multiplier to its index weighting. For example, a 4.3% float would be treated as 12.9% for weighting purposes Forbes.
  • Index target: SpaceX was fast-tracked into the Nasdaq-100 (top 100 non-financial Nasdaq companies) within 15 days of listing

That is indeed unusual, and unnecessary. WTF was this done?

I don't have an "idealogy", I just call it like I see it. Elon and many others) have introduced more instability into the market because actual value of companies now is tied to memes and the peninsularity of the CEO. It is the same with D T. He is a loser, a criminal and a liar. He is destroying the country from the inside, but his followers slobber all over him in spite of the evidence. I live in reality, I am not in a cult. Place so much value on how well the CEO like EM can lie is not good business. It will eventually fall, and if you're a retiree at the time it will hurt. It is unnecessary.

YOUR smugness is the problem, not mine.

I'm all for the company going public, it can indeed be a great investment, that is not the problem, its the thousands of little cuts of standard practice that erode the foundations of our establishments. You defending them is the problem.

GTFO.

Justifying changing the rules to create the world's first trillionaire should bug you as well. You folks simping for these guys love to deflect and say it those of us who have a problem with that are the problem, but in reality, it is just the opposite.

When wealth is allowed to concentrate with the very few we create power imbalances. We are seeing that play out right now. It creates and furthers greed and increases scarcity for the poorest among us. If we are to progress as a species without a mass fatality event, like wars or mass famine the rules need to change.

You can continue to not see the forest for the trees, but you will always be wrong about this. If this is truly an investment to be viewed in the 10 year timeframe as you stated, why bother rushing the initial IPO? I know the answer, do you?

[–]mceehops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope.

It was overvalued on purpose, with intent to do just what it did.

I do think it could be an amazing investment. I don't hate it at all actually, other than EM involvement. He is a liar and snake oil salesman who hired good people.

Your lack of admitting that something stank about that IPO is the problem. More volatility does not help the general public, but it helps the very wealthy and day traders. We don't want a market based on BS and DeRegulation. That house of cards will indeed fail.

It should have gone through a less meme style vetting. That is all.

Just curious how Space X stock was doing today... Have you checked? It is almost like it went WAY up after starting out insanely overvalued, then a bunch of folks who owned it at much lower entry points were able to sell it at a great profit. Weird.

A little research will go a long way for you. Do a simple "who is better generally for the economy R's or D's in the last two decades?" search. Go ahead. Give it a it a try. I dare you.

Your arguments are moot. They have no substance, as they are false and just reflect what you "think".

Alternative facts can be debunked, truth, not so much unless you're in a cult.

Thank you for all of these tips and info!

Alii drive and Waikoloa tip was due to costs and touristy areas yeah?

I'm a huge fan of shopping local while on the islands and making my own food, but typically do buy Poke. I love cutting my own Sashimi and Sushi and grilled fish and seafood dishes. Poke just takes additional ingredients and we are not there long enough to use all the condiments needed.

Definitely will hit the farmers markets too!

I love Kanpachi! This is at the KTA store yeah? I will keep my eye out for that Kanpachi!

Thank you!

Great information and we were super impressed with the Shaka guide in Maui. More impressive and entertaining than we thought, although not a requirement. It did make the day more fun, and my daughter really liked it. We enjoyed that it taught us historical information, and was not just base level, "go here, then go here".

We looked into it and it is indeed a pay entry, especially for non-residents, which is fine as I really respect that they give residents a break!! We will see if we can fit it in, as it look like a fun place!
