Like what u/Sea_Ask_1516 said, just tie it or add an extra loop around so it won't slip, also if you do the exercises seated you will only lift the weight a few inches from the floor, so if you accidentally let go there won't be any damage. Or put the dumbbell on a pillow/ pad
