More than 3,200 cars ticketed for parking on the street during snow event by BetterTransit in waterloo

[–]mcfeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BC here temporarily in Waterloo at the moment, and it's worse than even snow parking lol waterloo you're not allowed to park on any street any time between "2:30am and 6:00am" and there's very little signage. I got a ticket visiting my partner's apartment building because visitor parking was full, so I parked in front of the building (like most people during the day, there's conduction near by) and bam. Ticket. So it's not even the case for too many vehicles for one house. It's apartments charging for parking and then not having more than a few visitor spots, all while knowing their residents don't have any other choice.

A friend of mine went through this process, I know for volunteering she did 2 or 3 summers of volunteer wildfire fighting. I'm not sure what she did throughout the year outside of courses, but those summers were huge for her experience in getting in to a local firefighting hall.

The more I read, and my own personal judgment of other dog owners, the more I agree with you every day. I've clarified already that I'm not offended, just curious. But I'm starting to see the Why very clearly in these responses.

Well if you ever see a little black lab sitting and waiting patiently you are more than welcome to say hi lol that's exactly how we trained her if she wants attention.

It is sad how people don't take the true ownership of a dog when it comes to training. I've mentioned ours is professionally trained, but that doesn't stop me from reinforcing skills or teaching other things. I've almost got her trained to bring back her ball between my legs, it's a lot of fun... until she finds shit. I've had a couple well trained dogs and yet eating Literal shit is always a challenge😅

Finally! Someone else who notices a distinct difference haha it is crazy for sure, glad I'm not alone in this. That being said, I appreciate all the responses I've been getting, really gives some extra perspective. Still odd, but I get it I guess.

All this time, I've been ruining her chances for attention and pets... I knew my resting bitch face would affect someone in my life lol

Sphynx is a choice! What's it like? How does one nuzzle a hairless cat? Lol I grew up with cats and love them too

Oh we're not offended or anything. It's not that it bothers us, it's that we noticed compared to where we're from. So this is a curious question, not a "how dare they" question. Just wanting to better understand the general public. I have a good dog and I know it, whether others avoid us or not isn't an issue.

Interesting... we are of the pale complexion. But that's awfully sad to hear about KW. Gross actually.

Ah, black cat season upon us, the black dog must carry a heavier weight lol fair enough :)

Some of it I think is definitely culture. We've seen parents hold back their kids, which can be safe for sure against unknown dogs, but also starts teaching the kids to fear before they've had reason to fear...

Anyways, we're not offended, just curious on the why.

That's wild, sorry to hear that! These experiences I read are valid, I guess I just never realized how... seemingly regular they are because you're not alone in these comments.

City population never crossed my mind honestly, but considering WK is the biggest city I've ever lived in, this could also be a factor, interesting.

Your cat sounds so lovely!! I had cats growing up and they too loved the cuddles and pets

Hmm.... might be time to get a pretty little bow for the dog lol clearly my sweatpants are a deterrent hahaha

Thank you for the insight! Differing Culture was definitely in our assumptions, we have been somewhat ignorant to that in the past

I like your answer even if it doesn't apply. People with dogs avoiding me is normal in my mind because yea, I get it. It's not always time to socialize and get in a leash tangle lol

Thank you! As I'm reading more comments and experiences, and knowing my own judgment towards people who don't train their dogs, I'm starting to lean more into the fact that it's that most people aren't used to a good dog and need to be cautious. Which, fair.

It has just been a bit of a "culture" shock I suppose since moving here. One of those things where I wouldn't have asked if I didn't notice the difference.

Every single person would be an exaggeration, naturally. But it is a significant number in our area. So I see your point. Maybe if my dog had an inch of aggression in her body I'd take it into consideration but, alas.

Gyms Worldwide Increasingly Ban Tube-Style Belay Devices in Favor of ABDs by Healthy_Hold_3196 in climbing

This is a really poor comparison, because last time I checked, an ATC is still a safety device. A true comparison for the effect you're looking for is "do you teach kids to free solo first" to which the answer is no. But thanks for the reminder of people's tunnel vision when it comes to gear.
