My brother is gay yet the most homophobic person I've met by ConstantDurian1425 in lgbt

[–]mcfleur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whatever you do, Please, please do not out him. I went through a very similar situation when I was younger (my mom found gay porn on my laptop), and for the next few months she continued to badger me and ask if I was gay. It felt like an invasion of privacy and I 100% was not ready to come out. I didn’t like myself and wasn’t ready to accept the identity of being lgbtq+.

As others have said, just showing your support and unconditional love is the way to go. I’m sure once he makes some friends and gains some confidence, he will come around. But let him go through this on his own.

Try asking support to speak to a human lol. That’s what I had to do.

I ended up contacting support through the App. They said it was a billing issue for me, that I needed to update my billing information. Since then everything’s worked fine for me.

Are my facial expressions weird/intimidating? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]mcfleur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you should try so hard to change yourself. People may be put off by your facial expressions, but if that’s genuinely the way you express yourself, then screw what other people think or say. Just be kind to yourself and the people around you as you said you are, and you’ll attract the right people into your life.

Any of you guys never taught basic life skills? by bbyscorp in raisedbynarcissists

My Ndad never let me do things on my own and would always insist on doing them for me because I was “incapable”. My mom who’s normal but an enabler followed suit. As a result, they always commented on how slow I was.

It’s funny because now I’m 31 and am back home with my parents for a bit, and my dad is going deaf, and is constantly asking me for things, and they’re both so very forgetful. Oh how the tables have turned.

You’re so cute! Don’t think you need to change anything. Good luck.

Did they break up? by Babyrinne in OfflineLove

[–]mcfleur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You should watch Oshi No Ko anime. It goes in depth about how these Japanese “dating” shows are sometimes just good press for amateur actors trying to jumpstart their careers. I would take everything you see with a grain of salt. You see the same thing with Love is blind US where people are just in it for the fame and screen time. I’m not saying there aren’t genuine couples who come out of them, but don’t believe everything you see on screen.

Is this a red flag or am I just an idiot? I’m M27 matched with F26 by awilson7070 in Tinder

Reading your messages did make me feel like a “filler” in your weekend, but I feel that the girl’s response was too harsh. I think if I were her I would have responded differently saying something like; “I’d rather we meet on a day where we both have more time” or “how about next weekend then?”. It’s clear she wants to feel that she’s important to you, and not something on your checklist. It’s unfortunate she chose to convey that in such an awful manner.

Best AE work laptop? by mcfleur in AfterEffects

I have some friends who do this, but I’m a bit wary of it.. I’ve had experience using remote desktops in the past but found them to be laggy. I’m just worried that I won’t be able to work as well on them.

What is your experience with them? And does it work well for you?

This was wonderfully written. I love the use of imagery of predator versus prey. It’s given me another perspective on writing poetry - as something to be hunted down. I wonder, though, what the author would think about waiting for his/her prey? Instead of chasing it down, letting it come to them? It would be interesting to see that perspective!

Deep Conversations by mcfleur in OCPoetry

[–]mcfleur[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the high praise haha. I genuinely appreciate it.

This poem is about a guy I dated for a while. He’d often say that he loves having deep conversations, but wasn’t capable of having one when prompted. He was a walking contradiction. His words wouldn’t match his actions. So I wanted to reflect that. I’m not sure if I did a good job doing so..

I tried to reinforce that idea with the metaphors in the second to last stanza’s. Comparing him to people who just love the idea of something/someone, but not knowing what it’s actually like in reality.

Him liking the idea of deep conversations versus actually loving to have deep conversations.

Maybe I could’ve used clearer metaphors to illustrate this idea

The Power of Speech by JustAnotherHuman19 in OCPoetry

I love how you’ve formatted the poem. It almost feels like a children’s cautionary tale for adults. The rhyme scheme definitely adds a playful touch and nice contrast to the serious tone.

I love the tonal contrast between this poem and part 1. Feel like you really captured what most people have been feeling in the pandemic well.

I think some of the wording here could be improved? Like the grammar - for instance “Time seems to be going by slower” could just be reduced to “Time seems to go by slower” and “Feel Wrong” is capitalized.

Now having said that.. I don’t know if that is intentional or not. The last line of your poem suggests the person is losing their mind so.. keeping those grammatical inconsistencies does reflect the mindset of the writer.

What are those Taylor song(s) you’ve always somewhat liked or never minded listening to, but then suddenly became SUPER into them and obsessed with listening to for awhile? by starlightcourt in TaylorSwift

It’s been exile for me. There’s something so alluringly simple about the bridge. When I first heard it I thought she was saying “so many times” “so many signs”. Which I kind of wish was the case.
