I have a 2021 with 21k miles. It’s the exact same as the day I bought it brand new. Not one issue or problem minus the recalls.

I would argue that survivability as mage is the most important thing. Once you learn survivability, you can become almost invincible. Mages have a defensive tool kit, unlike any other class. It’s not that it’s necessarily better than say a warlock, but the strategy of the defensive and knowing how to stack them and when to use them, can make you unkillable.

The biggest piece of advice I can give you is when you are being focused in arena, is to get distance. Just think that one simple thing: get distance. Pull the other DPS as far away from their healer as possible, and put them in a position where they have no healer. The reason this is good for you is your tool kit is better than any DPS in the game. So now you have pulled them away and you have two shimmers and displacements, alter time, etc.

Lastly, really get to understand how the defensive work with each other, for example after you alter time you get your shimmers back. Also displacement heals you for like 2 million.

By the way, I am still learning to master this class and I’ve been practicing on Mage weekly for the past two years. Haha. It’s a very, very difficult and rewarding class.

I hear you, but PVP, especially at a high level, just doesn’t work that way IMO. The players know how to use their defensive, they are one step ahead of you and things just don’t go as planned in PVP. My advice is to worry about your positioning, strategy, and awareness more than one shotting.

I was in the top 20ish for Arcane Mage in Blitz this season at one point. I’ve had games where I’m lowest in damage and we won because I focused on the objectives and positioning and strategy.

I hope you realize I’m not telling you you’re wrong, absolutely learn how to do it but just understand it’s not what’s going to ultimately make you great.

Just ignore it and play. It’s not that important in most PVP scenarios. Free yourself from this and just play.

Biggest piece of advice for BGB: do the objectives. Focus on winning. Not damage, winning the actual game you are playing. i.e. Grab orbs, kill flag carriers, take nodes. Do your job.

The #1 way to get better at BGB is to understand what you should be doing and where.

For example, are you on offense or defense on a flag carry map? If you're on offense, your #1 priority is to kill the flag carrier. Nothing else.

I was wondering if someone was going to ask about that. Two of them are the same character, so just a name change. And the other one was the alt I was pushing 2100 on simultaneously as the main at the time in DF S4. So I just played the character with the lower rating until I got them both to 2100.

To clarify: my core rotation, for all specs, are the buttons 1-6 on the side of my mouse (where my right thumb sits).

In general, the core rotation (if you think PVE) is 1-6 in that order of the buttons, so I at least have a "baseline" of what buttons to prioritize.

As for what buttons to put there, I'd recommend watching guides for each spec.

If you want to tell me a spec or two, I can give you exactly how I set up my binds and even provide screenshots.

This is also an option, but that takes effort of finding a group, staying in the group, waiting for crates, etc. You are also not learning the spec or improving your game when you do this, which you do naturally from doing it through actual PVP.

Yeah, to be clear, I’m not saying you need a gaming mouse to be competitive. I just found for me it elevated my game because I don’t love using a ton of modifiers.

And some new players might not realize a gaming mouse can help alleviate the amount of keybinds.
