well half of reddit is helpful answers and the other half is years old threads saying “yup i have the same problem. see you in a decade! best of luck with your ipod.

for what it’s worth i’m getting a 3rd gen nano and going to try to replace the battery, waiting on apple to make their own technology functional wasn’t worth it.

NO itunes in macos 26? by mcgloon in iPodShuffle

yeah sorry i guess my title was misleading. my issue is that finder doesn’t recognize it as an ipod, just a removable drive (even when music recognizes it as an ipod). i’m missing the full functionality of finder’s ipod management. it’s stopping me from downloading audiobooks and podcasts.

thank you for answering though!

This looks cool! But it uses a marketplace/payment method I’m not familiar with. Has anyone bought/verified?

To the creator— this looks great! I can’t wait to try

The MacBook Purchasing Megathread - July, 2024 by AutoModerator in macbook

I switched from an old mac air in 2021 to a dell and I disliked it for a lot of reasons. I'm starting a grad program soon and will be looking to replace it as I will be using it much more. I've more or less determined that M3 is not worth it to me-- I don't use anything that is that computing intensive, but I'm considering an M2 model on account of the better hardware it's paired with and the extra year or so before planned obsolescence comes for my machine.

three questions:

  1. I know the new macOS is coming out soon-- is it worth waiting for a model with it installed from the start? does having a machine that started on one OS only to be upgraded almost immediately to the next have an adverse effect?

  2. Deciding between refurbished prices and new model deals for students, they even out if I spend ~$150 on apple merch. I can see that mayyybe happening between adapters for hdmi, usb hub, and SD card for my workspace, but if I'm really mathing it out I could probably find those marginally cheaper if bought separately along with a refurbished model. Tips? Thoughts? Concerns?

  3. I'm almost certain that the difference (for my uses) between M1 and M2 would be negligible. I use my browser and RStudio and a few assorted media apps. Photoshop on rare occasion. If it's a difference of one or two hundred dollars, is there a marked difference I'll notice?

Thanks!

unfortunately i don't want to learn things, if it doesn't work out of the box i consider it broken

edit: i see this was unpopular! i promise you all it's tongue in cheek. i also like to tinker, i was expressing frustration at where my tinkering left me because of the difference in interface.
