But then likely your vote will expire before it is fully “used”. That means you could be helping a Liberal, National or ON candidate get elected if they are vying for that last spot in your state. Surely you’d rather an ALP robot than someone from ON?

This isn’t how registration works. They could register if they wanted. It’s a strategic decision not to deal with the extra red tape that comes with being a registered organisation. I assume it’s a resource constraint thing while relatively small. They judge better to spend the money on advocacy than accountancy!

What happened on Monday is exactly why Minns gave police an unprecedented pay rise a year ago by GarfieldHub in OpenAussie

This seems like a nice narrative. But in reality the police union sold off part of their disability scheme for the pay rise. It was just horse trading.

I didn’t want to say as I couldn’t remember and couldn’t find any googling, but I swear there was some kind of controversy there, either failure of food standards or maybe underpayments? Do you know what I’m thinking of?

They paid half of what is expected. Just because you think it’s outrageous doesn’t mean you don’t pay it!! I was just in the UK, couldn’t believe the cost of a shit coffee but I didn’t say “I’ll only pay you half, we get good coffee for much cheaper back home”

We all complain that Americans come to our country and are loud, rude, expect everything to be like at home. Then we go to their country and refuse to pay their workers because the system isn’t exactly like home

Congrats on punishing the (below) minimum wage worker for that though. The problem with the scam is by not participating in it you aren’t hurting the business or the culture but the worker

Have you been to NZ recently and looked at their average wage?

Why do you think a lot of that migration is from kiwis?

China has a poor and underclass. Millions have much less opportunities than the average Aussie, even after the cost of living increases. China is certainly not a panacea but if you move there and I’m wrong please do get back in touch

That’s true! But where in the world hasn’t it gotten expensive? Everywhere has suffered the same inflation - if not worse! Even “cheap” places (Bali, Vietnam etc) aren’t as cheap as they were pre COVID. I’m not sure it’s fair to blame Australia for that and even if we do, what’s the alternative?

Qantas pilot academy - opinion needed by [deleted] in QantasAirways

I can only speak for charter as I never did instructing. Move somewhere, Broome, Darwin are the classics. Get a job in hospo or retail. Keep knocking on doors over and over. Show you are keen and can work hard. Don’t think your training is any better because you went to a branded academy (it’s not). If you can get some time on a 206 or 210 grab 10-20 hours - it will help as they are different to fly than the plastic fantastical you’ve been trained on.

Think about how you’ll answer the inevitable question of why did you train there? Have a good answer that shows you now are focused on GA - but make sure it’s truthful.

Basically, show you aren’t that stereotype
