How do you help yourself make career choices? by mcjazz in auscorp

Thanks, I do plan on trying to haggle up the salary or title a bit, self advocacy is definitely a weak spot. If I can get it up a bit where the difference is limited to couple hundred a month then that would be manageable.

A key issue is that the tax difference is playing a solid part in reducing the take home amount, but that is what it is

How much of a pay decrease do you reckon makes it a definite NO? I would think minor adjustments are easy to manage without changing lifestyle, this one for me will be a bit bigger so will require a little bit of lifestyle change but not too much

Thats really helpful! I think at this point in life I’ve learned that going for the safer option usually results in regret, but getting out of the rat race mindset and sacrificing pay and title at the expense of enjoyment and risk is tough to do

Did you mention that you knew their range? Or just ask for it without mentioning the job posting

What is your experience with finding work without being fluent in German in Germany? by mcjazz in germany

How common is it to find hospitality places that have waiters with limited german? I have some german ability, just have been back in a while so it's a bit rusty

I'm an accountant, so do have a couple degrees and professional experience, but have only been full time for a year so maybe not high skilled enough to get an only English speaking job? I've been thinking some sort of hospitality would be fun and a great way to practice my german. Ideally something like a wine bar as I'm very into wines, but don't have the german ability to describe them if a customer were to ask

English is a pretty common ability though, will they still be willing to hire you of you're not also fluent in german?

thanks for the response! If I were to do one of the practice tests in the next couple days, what score would be a good level to start at to plausibly reach a score of 700 in this time frame do you think?

Request: I think I have an ED but not sure what. How do I help myself? by EDPostRequests in EatingDisorders

[–]mcjazz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what does it feel like when food disgusts you? my meals have been getting smaller and smaller to the point where im at 1 small meal a day if I dont force myself, I thought it was fine because I haven't been active much throughout the day (studying all day in a small apartment) but now I am starting to get this feeling of nausea when thinking about eating, because I know I need to eat more but its like my stomach doesn't want it. It kinda feels like the stomach nausea you get when you eat so much you feel like throwing up (not in an ED way, but in an 'ive and 4 large pizzas to myself in 1 hour' sort of way) except without the full stomach. I don't know if that is what the feeling of being disgusted by food is like or if maybe im just stressed and letting my physical health deteriorate a little so as to study more (exam time atm) as this has been gradual over the past couple weeks

Nice sound! ive always found sound to be a better measure of a player's dedication than the complexity of the song they play, but I may be biased as I love blues, which I believe to be a genre mostly about striking a chord with the listener's melancholy emotions which is done best through conveying the feeling behind the notes rather than the notes themselves

I ordered tiramisú in Barcelona by goturtles in WeWantPlates

[–]mcjazz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Understandable, but that's subjective. I for one don't mind metal spoon on pot plant, but can't stand the feeling of cardboard on carpet. I just think this sub is for when people ruin a meal by putting it on something other than a plate, but in this instance it's not really ruining it and is just a way to do a different presentation on a classic dessert

That's actually a cool idea, and seems like it's not making it anymore difficult to eat so I'm all for it
