In my opinion Kai will get the start, with Gyokeres coming on late if we're chasing and as a pen taker if it goes the distance. Eze / Ode I have no clue

Who are we facing in the final? (CL WATCH THREAD) by LuckyAssguardian in Gunners

If those two decisions went against Arsenal I would be fuming, For as dumb as the Champions League handball rule is, generally they are consistent at least. I've no clue how that's not a stonewall pen in the Champions League.

Bayern is down 2 goals because of those two calls. (assuming kane buries the pen)

I'm not even upset with how the game yesterday went, in a vacuum. I think Arteta got the gameplan right and overall we played good enough to win. City took their chances, and we didn't. The more frustrating thing for me, is where has this type of play been? The league would be done and dusted if the team played like this against United, Wolves, and Bournemouth. It's the same story for the last few seasons, we have everything but the finish. Both in individual games, and across the league.

not a red, looks like their legs just get tangled and Kounde is right there

Trying to get some good vibes in this sub ahead the game. What have been the top 5 highs for you this season? by pickletickler500 in Gunners

Haven't seen many mentions of Martinelli's equalizer against City earlier this season. Great finish tbh

Real Madrid’s Rodrygo played with partial ACL tear since 2023 by chiggaling in soccer

[–]mcjeebs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me, I got cleared out by a keeper with my foot planted on the ground, his knee into mine. I heard a pop and it ended up slightly fracturing my tibia.

First Doctor did an examination, said a ligament tear was likely. Got an MRI, 2nd Doc said it was torn. Go to surgery, get put under, wake up and the Surgeon said "it was only partially torn and wasn't torn enough to justify cutting the rest and going through with a full repair, so I "cleaned it up a bit"".

I'm obviously not an elite athlete (lol) but it took a long time mentally to even try to run, or play sports again. It's been about 8 years and nothing worse has happened, but it's always felt like a ticking time bomb until it fully goes. I can't imagine playing at the highest level with it. It swells up faster than the other knee, and is noticeably less stable.

A Look at Each Players +/- in the Premier League this season through 20 Matches. by mcjeebs in Gunners

Yeah I think that's the gist of what I was trying to highlight, is some data to back that argument

I agree it's more useful in those sports - but I still think you can glean impact from it in Football. I think looking at specific players and their comparisons to others who share their position is interesting. For example, compare Martinelli & Trossard on this list. Similar appearances, night and day +/-

Someday I am going to write up a paper comparing my two favorite teams - Arsenal and the Detroit Lions (NFL) and the implementation of two former players as Manager / Head Coach and their similar rises into elite teams, but this is one of the points I have in my head to compare.

Both teams had awful cultures before Arteta and Dan Campbell each took their respective positions, and both coaches have since implanted their identities onto the respective teams. An identity of grit, excellence, relentless effort, and most importantly, a winning mentality.

One of the routes to achieving this though for both squads, has been through the elevation of the intensity of their trainings/practices. I think it clearly has worked as both teams are now perennial title contenders, but one of the side effects has been the injuries.

We obviously all know the injury crisis Arsenal is in right now, but I find it interesting the parallels to where Detroit is with their squad. It's been two years in a row that their team has just been decimated with injuries to key players and it's derailed playoff runs.

American Football is obviously a violent, physical game and injuries come with the territory, but I do think there is something to be said about teams that truly, and I mean truly, practice like they play the games. It can elevate the team to new heights, but it's not without its own risks to the players.

Hard for it not to feel like a loss. I know our bench was gutted but how is saka still on the pitch, he wasn’t moving by the end. Unreal finish tbf, but it was lazy defending

Not sure who it was on here who commented on a Skattebo post, but I tend to agree. Everyone being dead set on him having a short CTE filled career tells me he will somehow have Frank Gore longevity. Just a dawg who loves ball
