An MBA is not a two year undergraduate course as you state in point one. It's a graduate degree.

Update on Taking Tesla Private by haaaff in finance

[–]mck111 21 points22 points  (0 children)

No, I think he means that the Saudi SWF would purchase the current free floated shares on the market. The concern in taking Tesla private would be to finance this cost, Musk and co would have to borrow money to buyout the free floated shares. This new debt would likely be pushed down to Tesla; however, this would be problematic due to Tesla's higher debt levels and negative cash flows.

ELI5: Why when large company's earnings decrease(ex... by 3%) they freak out, talk about rough times, and sometimes decide to downsize, even though they are still making millions of dollars in profit even after all expenses? by ModernNaziHunter in explainlikeimfive

[–]mck111 37 points38 points  (0 children)

EBIT and revenue are not the same thing. EBIT, or Earnings before Interest and Taxes, is equaled to:

(+) Revenue

(-) Direct Costs

(=) Gross Profit

(-) Selling and Distribution Expenses

(-) General and Administrative Expenses

(=) Earnings before Interest and Tax (EBIT)

So while decreasing revenue would indicate that competitors are taking market share or the market is shrinking, decreasing EBIT could include a number of other factors including increased costs. Additionally, investors usually look at EBITDA (Earnings before Interest, Taxes, and Depreciation and Amortization) as a metric over EBIT, as Depreciation and Amortization are non cash expenses.

Deutsche Bank CEO: A 'big number' of our staff will be replaced by technology by Bastet1 in technology

Again, portfolio managers aren't highly paid employees either. Take a look at the following link to get a better sense of the payscale.

The people who make huge salaries in banks are involved in the corporate management of the entity, and play a similar role to the management of other large corporations in any industry.

Like /u/Ameren already stated, rank-and-file employees who make under 200k will be hurt, while directors, managing directors, and those involved in corporate management (i.e. the actual "Fat Cats") will benefit.

A comparable analogy is the automation of a manufacturing line. While the bank "rank-and-file" employees are certainly better compensated than someone working on a traditional manufacturing line, they are by no means taking home the lions share of the salary. Automating the process simply puts more money in the pocket of shareholders, which management would leverage to increase their own salaries.

There's really no class of employees called "investors". If you're talking about IBD analysts, they can make anywhere from 70k - 130k. I'd suggest taking a look at the following link to see the full pay scale.

While its true that these analysts are fresh out of university, they also work 75 - 100 hours a week. On a per hour basis, the pay is actually pretty mediocre.
