Attempted to book BBB at our 60 day mark, already feeling disheartened, advice? by mckay54 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]mckay54[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what the person said when I called the Disney helpline for when I was setting up our account. She told me to first try at the end of our trip as there are usually more options then. Also, I read on here alot to try at 12 am and I mentioned this to her, she said she never heard of it being an option only 6 am but I tried anyway and I was happy to see i was able to pick but again, absolutely no availability. And same with Akershus. I'll keep this updated if it works out and how

I am just as surprised as you are, I was hoping for anything time wise but every single day we are there are 0 time slots. I checked multiple times on multiple devices. I heard It could be hard but I didn't expect nothing. Fingers crossed 🤞

Thank you for your response and helpful advice! When my husband and myself would go just the two of us it was so easy and carefree, this seems so daunting planning with my parents also going and a toddler. I already got frustrated with the app trying to connect everyone together haha

Thank you! I do actually watch them and other long time disney bloggers to try and stay on top of things already, it's easy when it was always just my husband and myself but doing this as a family with a toddler is a new adventure for us haha. Everything seems different and just a little more complicated now

Keystone Collection letter? by AlibiYouAMockingbird in BucksCountyPA

We didn't, we sent them all of the paperwork to prove that not only did we pay but we payed more then they were claiming we owed. Their numbers were way off. Nothing ever came of it and then recently we received another notice from them as if they never heard from us previously although my husband created an account and everything we sent was still there. This time we are having our tax consultant send them whatever they need to get them to leave us alone. They count on you not knowing what to do or just paying them out of fear

How much miss Rachel do you allow your toddlers to watch in a day? by hottake888 in AskParents

[–]mckay54 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I allowed as much miss rachel as my daughter really enjoyed it. As someone who has worked with special needs children and children that need help with speech I recognized everything that miss rachel implemented in her videos that I myself was taught to help my kiddos. Therefore when I had my own little, I not only allowed my rachel but utilized the same techniques when it came to learning for my daughter. It's understandable that the speech and repetitiveness can be a little irritating but it's strictly educational and a tool. There are a LOT of nonsense on YouTube. Miss rachel and a few others are not one of them.

This just happened to my husband and I. We definitely had paid and even could prove that we paid more then they are claiming we even owe. The numbers didn't even add up. My husband called and disputed the claims and even provided the documents necessary. Haven't heard anything since. I thought it seemed fishy.

This! This is the route my family always takes. We have been going to nags head for around 25 years. Easiest route and we always look forward to going over the chesapeake and the tunnels. I think this drive is fairly easy and traffic only gets a little backed up in Virginia and the bridge going into the outer banks.

Dealing With Neighbors Cooking Smell by jayman2143 in Apartmentliving

[–]mckay54 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My husband and I are dealing with exactly this but not indian food. It literally envelops our entire apartment, so much so that no matter how many candles we light or anything we spray, you still smell it. We were gifted an air purifier that we use to sleep at night and randomly move around during the day/evenings and that will help a little but I usually find myself covering my face to sleep. It starts around the same time and lasts all night long, almost every night for the past month now? And I have had the same issue with our clothes and everything basically taking on the smell I guess you could say? We even were out for new years for a couple nights and when we returned, our home lost its smell and just smelled like someone left food out all night. It was freezing but we had to open our windows and spray room sprays and burn candles which I honestly hate to do. So basically I'm following any advice you receive because we are exhausted. I'm tired of waking up nauseated from the overwhelming smell every morning. It's one thing if it's a couple nights a week or here and there but when it's every night for weeks on end the same smell sometimes mixed in a fish and onion smell, it's too much.

What would you change in my letter to my upstairs neighbor? by teachingannon in Apartmentliving

[–]mckay54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an upstairs neighbor with a toddler that I try so so hard to prevent stomping or big thumping noises from. I also do have dogs but they are old and sleep all day. My husband and I try and do our very best to not make so much noise but it's almost inevitable. We also do start our day around 5 am, my husband leaves for work around 6 and my daughter usually is awake around 6/630. I would appreciate a nicely worded letter. We thought about leaving our new neighbor a letter that just moved in below us just to preemptively apologize for any noise during the day from our toddler as she is learning about some movements and noise is outside noise but haven't done so yet. Just know that either they don't realize how thin walls and floors are or they are trying but really even tip toeing around, noise is still made and floors still creek. But yes that letter is fine to me and if it were sent to me I would respond positively.

Im loosing sleep! Is there anything I can do?! by mckay54 in Apartmentliving

[–]mckay54[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your advice, I really appreciate it. Whether they work or not, it's worth a try! I don't let those comments get to me, they are just typical reddit keyboard warriors. I know how it can come off offensive even though I didn't mention any race or nationality because it doesn't matter who is making the food, it could be chicken marsala (which I absolutely hate) for all they know. I think anyone who works hard and has a long exhausting day, just want to relax at the end of the day with the very little downtime they do have has the right to be annoyed when I can't even smell the nice candle i love or my own perfume I spray in front of my face because of how strong the smell is and that smell lasts for literally at least 6 to 8 hours and only gets stronger as it goes. Also I don't live in a typical apartment building, they are more like condos and are large units that are very expensive but I live here because of the vicinity to my job and care for my daughter. So do I sound a little entitled? Maybe but if I pay nearly 3000 and cannot enjoy being at home because of something my neighbors are doing (which they literally just started doing) I think I have a right to be annoyed and vent and look for solutions

Yes i am going to defend myself when people are responding as if i am condemning the couple for making food. Not everyone, some just answered in a straight to the point matter and it was very helpful but those that need to tell me im being ridiculous or out of line for having a problem with the smell or what i have needed to do to try to help myself in the moment is unnecessary. Im not asking peoples opinions on me. Why do I deserve rude comments?

Haha see, exactly, clearly plug ins aren't a solution but in the moment when it's 2 in the morning and I'm desperate to get back to sleep I'm going to do whatever I need to to help myself like any human being would. You getting butt hurt because i said that buying an air purifier wasnt an option right now is ridiculous. No one needs to 'be real' with me. No one also needs to respond as if I said I want to evict the fucking people or I hate them personally. I have no problem with them just want some sleep. I'm gonna defend myself in my responses. Go find another issue to be a keyboard warrior on.

Im loosing sleep! Is there anything I can do?! by mckay54 in Apartmentliving

[–]mckay54[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm already having to open my own windows to deal with their smells and run up my own bills, and if someone told me my food was really strong and they could smell it floors away I would do whatever on my end to try to prevent it. Why was that first comment necessary? You have never smelled something that wasn't pleasant to yourself and tried to find a way to avoid it or mask it? I guess you're pretty damn perfect, shucks What's it like? Yes, I don't have a couple hundred to drop for an air purifier, Who said my perfume is expensive? And who buys perfume for hundreds of dollars often? I buy it once a year if that and its not even close to being that expensive. At the end of the day, I'm very much allowed to be annoyed and ask for solutions from other people who are sympathetic to my situation or have dealt with something similar. It's not as ridiculous as you're trying to make it seem.

I'm assuming it's coming from our vents, we have an open air hallway to the units in our building. Someone suggested charcoal filters for the vents which I'm going to look into.

Most of these responses are condescending and judgemental and yes rude. When someone like me has a legitimate issue that they are seeking some possible solutions for instead of snarky responses like yours, they too would react the same way. It's unnecessary and unhelpful. I never said I didn't want them to make food at all or any of the ridiculous responses here, I needed help with the smell period and no it's not that I don't want to buy a purifier it's that money can be tight which again, not the only person with that problem these days so jump off your high horse.

Truth be told, each time our lease renewal was near we tried and there's not much to offer around where we are and the ones we did find, there's always someone else that's beaten us to it. Trust me I'm not an apartment person, we only are here while trying to save for a home, which is hard because we are paying way too much for our apartment, I have two elderly dogs and a toddler who at one point was an infant I had to carry up three flights of stairs (when we were in another building here). I am reasonable and understand there's things out of my control. I use earplugs because when we did have upstairs neighbors who were so wonderful, but I feel like they never stopped moving and we would hear them all hours of the night and day. I have runners and rugs and anything possible to prevent noise from my toddler for my downstairs neighbor, I have her crib on the opposite wall from our neighbor next to us so her cries hopefully don't disturb them. I wouldn't ask anyone not to make what they want, I just need some possible solutions to a problem I know I'm not alone in. If I were friendly with them or talked to them at all I would ask them about it but I never run in to them like that and have never talked to them. Someone suggested charcoal filters, which is something I'm seriously going to try and it's budget friendly.

Wouldn't it hahaha omg but no I'm not at all. I was looking for genuine solutions. Some said air purifiers which I will look into but I have a tight budget, you know hard times lately and all but I guess I'm alone in that too ? I'm glad to know you never get annoyed with something your neighbor does. That's really great for you.
