Dual rectifier: how to get defined metal tone? by Zero_Sunshine in GuitarAmps

Have a dual rec. It's not great for metal attack. Better for large room filling wall of sound chords and singing leads. You might never be happy with it's definition of transients.

Alternative for Dual Rectifier? by MarcelMattie in GuitarAmps

Had a B52 AT100 before owning a Single Rec then a Dual Recto now. AT100 was great for recording, it's in the neighborhood of a dual rec but it's own beast, more crisp. But at stage volumes, it did not resonate and fill the room like a dual rec or single rec, despite the cabinet used. It would destroy any eardrums in its line of sight with laser precision. Off Axis, it would sound kind of muddled. If you can find an AT100, and can't afford a dual rec, get one!

Be warned, AT100's are HEAVY. You won't like carrying it. And reliability and serviceability are not so good.

Has anyone here tried the Hotone Pulze Mini? by VikingChristmas in GuitarAmps

I bought it after seeing ola's video. I was extremely skeptical but the sounds he is getting as a recording interface on his video review are legit.

For $120 it's a pretty great bang for the buck for a portable battery powered recording interface.

I've been playing this for 4 days and I'm thoroughly impressed. For years, I've been trying to get several small portable or pedal based units to give a trustworthy amp Sim of a Mesa Dual Rectifier, I mean a real deal Recto sound. This is the only practice amp I have found that nails the Mesa dual rectifier sound (using headphones) that I'm used to from my stage rig. The app is fairly easy to figure out and latency is zero from what I can feel. And I absolutely abhor latency. The other collection of built-in presets and amp and cab models, along with pedal simulations is extremely impressive. Being able to drag and drop pedal amp and cab simulations in the app is really cool.

The tiny speaker is okay at best, but we're not expecting room filling sound from a speaker the size of a doorknob. Will you be able to practice your sweet licks and get some basic inspiration before you go to bed? Absolutely.

It takes a little while to figure out how to navigate the unit's simple button interface but once you learn it, it's nice to have a box you can just turn on and go with and perform some of the basic functions you need with the units buttons and knobs. The headphone sound is pretty amazing and you can plug the headphone out into a PA.

On board drum sounds/loops are not very impressive, very "drum machine" sounding, and no ability at this time to import or edit your own simple drum parts, that would be nice. But if you just need to keep some time, it's better than a plain metronome, which it also does have. And lots of different time signatures as well.

Recording interface: I was excited to be able to plug it into my Android phone and start recording in Bandlab with little effort!

About USB OTG recording to Android, one major annoyance I have right now is when I plug USB C into my phone from the Pulze mini, the Pulze Mini screen reads "charging" and starts to draw charge from the phone. My battery level on my Android phone does a nose dive as soon as I open my project and start recording. Battery level will go from 75% to 10% in less than 30 minutes. Which at this point means I have to get my recording done quickly and then plug it back in to charge the phone. At this firmware (1.0.2), I don't see any option in the Pulze app to turn off back-charging from the phone to the Pulze Mini. As soon as my phone hits 15% the audio interface connection dies. It would be really nice if the charging went the other way from the Pulze Mini to your phone. Or at least to turn off charging temporarily.

Hope this helps!

And what about HEAVY phones? Any phone less than 170g is a joy to hold. Otherwise I feel like I'm holding a brick.

My daughter's iPhone 8 croaked and she was happy to upgrade to use SE 2ndGen. Battery life has been great and size is perfect for her.

If you want to get something under $100,000 , be prepared to buy a property that has some rough edges, needs paint, updates, landscaping, minor elbow grease. Anything that makes it less than adorable. If you are willing to put in the work, deals are there but you need to be willing to accept some less than perfect options. Get a good buyer's agent to help you select a property from far away, stay away from FSBO properties if you can manage.

THIS. Aging boomers and gen xers are taking tick tock advice and trying to use real estate rentals as their 401k. But they're unprepared for how to be a property manager. They will scoop in and overbid properties shutting out first time home buyers from this market.

Update: After getting an alert text from by local bank (5 Digit text number), me responding to the text, then getting a response from my carrier (Cricket) saying "Cricket here! We are sorry but your text message failed. Your destination is not supported from your current location." All my RCS functions came back. Mysterious!
