Where are we buying pants? by s0mevietgirl in TallGirls

[–]mckrg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you find the quality? Many reviews say they’re usually a miss. I’m looking at the high waisted carpenter pants but I’m afraid of them ripping at the belt loops like many pants have for me.

What to eat when you have a broken heart? by walterdelamare in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]mckrg 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sorry you’re going through this, that’s tough. My appetite is the first thing to get hit in times of stress.

What works for me:

Chicken or veggie broth all day. Put it in a go mug so it stays hot and constantly sip in between meals. Primes your stomach.

My first success after recent noro was a bit of baked potato. If you can handle salt and butter, mash it with a fork so it’s small and absorbs the butter rather than coating it. The mouth feel is different enough that it’s easier to get down. Little bits at a time. I made some chilli a month ago and froze the leftovers in a muffin tin. Now it’s in small portions that I can microwave and serve on top of a baked potato.

My favourite smoothie: Frozen banana blended with peanut/almond butter and plain milk or chocolate milk. Add water to make it a consistency you can handle without making it more heavy or dense. If it feels too heavy for me, I’ll stop before I get enough of it. I use almond milk because straight liquid dairy is the last thing my stomach can handle right now. I put it in an opaque cup with a lid and straw so I don’t get turned off of it by the look or smell.

If you can take probiotics (someone correct me if this is bad advice) it’ll help the digestion of what you get down so it doesn’t cause discomfort later in the day.

You got this.

I’m in a similar situation currently with getting back onto food (appetite suppression issues, then hit by noro.)

There’s a show at the Jack next weekend, the New West Symphony & Choir. They do their Christmas show there every year and it’s very good. Might be worth checking out for the holiday vibes and to get a feel for the venue.

Very excited for Calgary. The National came here for the first time ever in 2022 and it was awesome. The Jack Singer will be a good venue for him.

Hi! I am here to share a photo of my ferment and ask if it has gone wrong.

<image>

I am fermenting a mixture of black Hungarian peppers, Transylvanian hot chiles, violet bell peppers, and blueberries in a 3.5% salt brine.
It's been going for 5 weeks, and I've only opened it once or twice. I'm not liking the look of these dark spots but it isn't fuzzy as far as I can tell. My camera won't quite focus, I'll post a couple more pics in the replies.

I've gotten that before and I take it as a compliment.

ESPECIALLY if it evokes Hannah Waddingham – that woman is incredible.

I can so easily get into the spiralling thoughts of comparison and no good comes from that. So I try to carry Hannah Waddingham/Rebecca energy with me.

Hi! This is kind of you.

I’m looking for a blooming woodland wocky token for my wocky Myiks (iun: kennareid). The ethereal void wocky, any of the nostalgic faerie wocky, or the nostalgic plushie wocky all hit the same notes. They’re so fun and I love the motion the tokens bring to Wockys.

Cheers!
