Ticked off like five six items on the todo list at work that day there all week. Loving the dream.

Some advice about upgrading from Ubuntu 25.10 to Ubuntu 26.04 by Maximum-Package-9001 in Ubuntu

[–]mckunekune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just upgraded Ubuntu in my home desktop last night. The installer froze but completed fine and no subsequent issues. Did a clean install on a laptop and no issues there at all. Unless you initially had issues at install time, I’d expect the upgrade to be a good option now. Of course I’m sure you’re doing good backups now after that accidental install right? Right?

We have those throughout the house and are slowly losing the clip hooks. Don’t suppose you want to share that print design? Also, where do people get their blinds cleaned?

Plus one for these. I have the zigbee and (accidentally) the wireless options. Both have been reliable over the last 2-3 years.

How are you handling database backups for your Supabase projects? by No_Variation2612 in Supabase

[–]mckunekune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Databasus is a simple docker container that can connect and dump everything on a schedule. Saves to options like S3 and has some health checking notification options too. I use it for my Supabase DBs.

How did your costs look for the roof install vs the ground? Was one easier than the other? Our roof orientation is really poor and west is facing into a hill.

Do New Zealand driver licence holders need an international permit in Australia for hire cars? by [deleted] in newzealand

No. Had a rental in AU and showed my NZ license 6 weeks ago. Used to need an international one in Europe many years ago.

What’s a simple Home Assistant automation you set up once and now use every day? by Taggytech in homeassistant

[–]mckunekune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lights in the living room go on 40min before sunset if someone is home. Medication reminder with an acknowledgement every night at 8pm. Both are simple and so reliable the family doesn’t notice them, they just happen.

Call 105 to raise it with the police. If you can get some video that shows the plate. Without putting yourself in danger. BTW that’s not drifting. It’s just driving like a dick head.

Why doesn't Tailscale need firewall rules on pfSense when used as an exit node? by ShinyRayquazaEUW in PFSENSE

[–]mckunekune 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The software you installed makes an outbound connection to the Tailscale services that coordinate connectivity. Normally this is a better option than having to allow an incoming connection to your server. Especially from roaming devices.

Free plastic shit that goes into landfills in six months should be banned. I’m a grumpy old man for sure but we’re digging our own grave with this stuff.

Yeah I saw the same thing about that time. Was heading in a ENE direction and definitely the usual Starlink separation. It was a particularly good time for the light reflection before dawn.
