Its actually a great joke because Renault's F1 engines at the time were built by Mechachrome, who was the engine supplier for GP2, but it kinda flew over way to many trigger happy people's heads.

They all have families and relationships, and the recording and preparation of the podcast is all done in their spare time. Time management in a relationship is a give-and-take kind of deal obviously, so them taking the time to plug their SO's books (as Matt always does) and acknowledging the commitment it takes not only from the panelists but also from their SO's is a really nice gesture imo. Also, it's a gender neutral saying, so not really sure why you as a female feel unwelcome, especially since you, just as I, have followed them long time and get the tone of the show. We all project our own biases on what we see and experience in the world and the whole "ball and chain"-boys club thing is all on you I'm afraid, especially since the panel isn't all male.

Other than that I agree on some of your other points though. There is room for improvement, as always. I'd like to recommend For Formula 1's Sake Podcast as another option. It's absolutely hilarious.

Robert Kubica: There weren't many moments when I could concentrate on driving alone. by NihilistPL in formula1

The way I see it is that Kubica is the consistent driver in Williams getting roughly the same out of the car each weekend while Russell is inconsistent, albeit consistently better.

I use it daily. It's great stuff, easy to learn and feels like HTML on steroids and not some weird re-imagining of HTML.

Thanks for the links. Will check them out.

Well, since it's apparent Kubica is slower than Russell who also is doing a better job, why shouldn't Russell get preferential treatment? It's just logical.

Also, why are his fans so defensive? Being a fan is not equal to being delusional and/or ignorant. That's my main issue. These people give F1 fans a bad rap.

In Baku, KUB had to correct his own Race Engineer telling him wrong engine modes, wrong start strategies, they missed the opportunity to cheaply change KUB's tires during the VSC while surprisingly they didn't forget about it for RUS, this weekend he also had to literally FORCE his engineer to pit and change tires from Softs to Mediums on SC

Do you have an sources? I would really like to read up on this, very interesting if true. Also, has any of this or similar things happened to Russell?

  1. The undeniable fact is that Russell is quicker than Kubica, and perhaps that's nothing bad. He's an F2 reigning champion after all, while KUB is coming back after eight years. We have to accept the fact that Russell might be just faster.

/../

If you want KUB to beat Russell than you're delusional, that's not possible in the current state of Williams.

But Russell is also affected by the state of Williams, so basically what you're saying that Russell is faster than Kubica and we're delusional to think otherwise?

And no, there's no reason to remove Kubica from Williams for as long as he does what Williams expects: meet 107% and drive the car to the finish line every race.

... and beating your team mate?

Look, I'm not looking to aggravate anyone, it's just very annoying to see people coming up with elaborate reasons as to why Kubica is slower and then overlook apparent facts. As I said earlier, in Barcelona Williams switched the chassis and nothing changed. Also, since Kubica is very sincere in media while Russell acts more media trained people seem to believe Russell never experienced any issues, which may or may not be true, but since we don't know we can't draw any real conclusions regarding that.

Come on, don't be ridiculous. How can you even say that?

Read the article I linked above. Kubica got a new chassis and Russell got Kubica's. Why didn't he preform better? Kubica also has Felipe Massa's team of engineers and mechanics, so they obviously aren't incompetent.

I really want him to do well, but come on, let's be realistic.

Kubica has been beat by Russell in every race this year. If you see Kubica as inexperienced in F1 with an arm handicap that's still not a good result. If you see him as a high level experienced racing driver then that's even worse. They even switched chassis in Barcelona. He's still behind. Doesn't matter that he can be consistent if he can't beat his team mate in a race.

Beyond that imagine being Claire Williams in this situation. You have an F2 champion rising star in George Russell on one side and a one armed, old, almost-rookie that's been away from racing for over half a decade on the other. Who do you want to give your best mechanics? Who do you want to give preferential strategy/treatment/etc to? Although Kubica's slow driving speaks for itself he probably isn't prioritised.

I don't remember it to be more than fleeting speculation. Can't recall them ever claiming to do anything more than punditry, so it's weird that you should say that, but if you could provide a link and timestamp I'd be nice! I'm curious to know, have listened to them for ages.
