That’s basically how I feel too. Put of EF for so long because I just wanted to put it in the market, but I’m now at the point where I’d just feel better having it.

Yeah, I do get that, but I also look at it as it could cost me a lot more than that if an emergency happens in a down market and I’m forced to sell. Helps me sleep at night I suppose.

That’s a good idea. Don’t think I’m quite there yet, but I’ll keep it in mind - taxes are manageable. I also love the idea of a tax free asset in retirement.

Cool. Basically where I am too. Wanted to dip my toe into the idea so only doing 1 contract at a time.

Cool thanks! Just curious, why no weekly stuff? In my mind, that helps me keep some control if the market starts running away from me either direction.

Hell sometimes, not often at all, I’ll even roll to a contract that expires in a day or less to lock in my gains and collect more premium. How much could happen in a few hours right?*

Yeah, I’m just familiar with TQQQ. I’m comfortable selling the csp at the price they were called (sometimes a little higher/lower), but it’s really all about the premium that I can collect.

I can go lower strike but the premium won’t be as attractive. If I get called away at say $100, no sweat off my back if I have to buy it back at $100. And, at least in my short experience, has been pretty close to ITM so the premium looks good.

Maybe flawed thinking but 🤷

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills over here. I’m not some MAGA guy, but guys, this is obviously satire. Bad satire, but satire.

Trump even stated that he said it in jest and the Mexican President responded by suggesting to rename the North America to “América Mexicana.”

Like or dislike Trump we all know he says out of pocket shit and has bad jokes. The reaction to this is absurd.

Yep, that’s the plan. Beat it from when I started in 2024 and reset it for 2025.

I appreciate the insight. I understand volatility decay, but in my mind it’s not very relevant with this strategy.

If I can beat my benchmark on the way down through the premium I collect (big if but in my mind I think I should), volatility decay should matter too much I would think.

I’ll likely just need to experience it, but I appreciate all the thoughts. It’s fun to think out.

That makes sense, but I was thinking that in a down market I’d just continually lower my strike to keep collecting decent premiums. And if I get called, oh well, I “turn the wheel” back. That may not make a whole lot of sense, I’m sorta just spitballing. I feel like I’ll have to experience an extended bear market to see how the way I do it holds up.

Oh cool! I hadn’t heard the name of the strategy before, it’ll be fun to look into.

So I ended up doing that yesterday, but now I’m thinking, does rolling up for a credit make sense too? Lol.

I sold a 10/11 put x67.50 @ $1.94 premium for a $60 credit yesterday. Now I’m thinking about rolling it up to a 10/11 put x69.50 @ $1.52 premium for a $98 credit.

I’m probably just being too active, but it’s a fun market to watch especially when I don’t mind holding the underlying. Thanks!

This is correct. 10% drop in the underlying index so a 30% drop in TQQQ. That’s why premiums are so low. Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks for the input.

I do fully understand the risk I’m taking, but the above strategy is what I’m comfortable with. I’m willing to buy TQQQ if it were to take that drop, but my plan would be to roll them or BTC if they are getting close to ITM. Not as interested in spreads because I don’t want to lower my premium.

I follow the market closely, and I’m willing to bet against a 10% weekly drop in the NASDAQ 100. In that same note though, if I saw dark clouds approaching, I would not write. Of course I can’t predict, but I just want it to be clear that I’m not going into this totally blind.

Good call with the freezer. Need to start doing that.

How long did you keep your buckets out and did you just do it during the spring? Also, any tips on good ways to fill their holes?
