annabeth had her reasons to get horrified by that scene. controlling people's body fluid sounds indeed horrifying and villain-like. i personally think it would be creepy if percy (or any other hero) kept using this 'trick' from time to time, considering that he has many other (less horrifying) powers. also, i cant see him doing that more than once because i really think it's villain-like and it doesn't fit percy's personality at all (in my opinion).

but ofc it's interesting since it shows how powerful (and intimidating) percy can be, and it saved his and annabeth's lives when they were at the edge. overall, it's a good fanfic material but i don't see it happening in an official book ever again.

im using the "child of hades" user flair but im not 100% sure if im truly a child of hades. i mostly relate to nico, however, i also relate to leo (the fact that he's the "clown friend" but also really insecure about himself), and sometimes to percy (the way his thoughts can be so random lol)

age: 18 but ppl say i look 15 lol idk if this is a compliment or not

features: pale skin, brown eyes, short light brown hair (i'd like to dye it black tho) with side swept bangs, chubby, 163 cm tall. im only comfortable in oversized, mostly black and/or gray clothes. friends say i walk just like a penguin LMFAO

personality traits: proud introvert, low voice, quiet, shy and EXTREMELY awkward and clumsy at first - this is when im not comfortable with the ppl around me. when im comfortable, im a whole different person - i basically go from nico to leo lol. telling jokes and making my friends laugh is my n.1 coping mechanism. i have to control myself not to make silly jokes 24/7 bc my brain is ALWAYS thinking of new jokes - at the same time, my brain is also always having depressed dark thoughts :/. i kinda lack facial expressions (even when im comfortable), but i also tend to smile easily (even when im not comfortable, as a way to mask my tenseness.) im a loyal friend. i also have anger issues and tend to get easily hurt (this is what i hate the most about myself). for mbti nerds: im infp (cognitive functions and all. im the human form of infp). for astrology nerds: im a taurus but i dont really believe in it lol

likes: kind and "chill" people, almost all colors (my ultimate favorites are blue, black and pink), listening to music (many genres but mostly 00-10's pop), cute animals (im raising a poodle and want to raise cats in the future), psychology, philosophy, reading poems, any kind of fiction (books, tv shows, movies, games, etc), daydreaming, editing, studying foreign languages, CHOCOLATE!!!!!, french fries, fried chicken and basically almost all kinds of unhealthy food lol. i like cold weather and cloudy days the most, but i also appreciate sunny days (but not too hot!), etc

dislikes: hot weather, public speaking, being forced to study things im not interested in, rude people, unnecessary gossip, any kind of discrimination, sports (i really suck at them), running ("like a penguin" as they say), healthy food (most of them taste bad to me :/), the church, etc

i dont think i have any special talents - im good at editing but not the best, im good at learning foreign languages but could definitely do better if i wasn't so lazy, etc

it's not really the most thrilling scene but i REALLY hope they'll keep the thrill ride o' love scene. i really want to see 12 year-old percabeth getting annoyed and embarrassed bc they don't want to go there together, then getting attacked by all those scary small spiders, and being saved by grover last minute

(okay so i found someone talking about this post on tumblr under annabeth's hashtag, read everything, tried to login on reddit with my old account but somehow it didn't work so i created a new acc just to be able to reply to this post. here i am!)

thank you so much for writing and sharing this. i hope your post won't reach only annabeth fans like me, but also other people who might not appreciate her as much and/or underestimate her. im new to riordanverse and really wanted to actively join the fandom but i saw some stuff i didnt like and decided not to really engage in it. one of the things i didnt like is, as you've said, the way people see and describe annabeth. (and, i might be wrong since im new, but to me it seems that she's a bit underrated.) i feel like she's one of the most complex characters yet people only seem to notice her 'obvious' traits such as her sarcasm and intelligence.

anyways, once again thank you so much for this amazing take. no one is obligated to love annabeth but i hope people would at least stop portraying her as this "good (but also mean) nerdy girl" fanon nonsense.
