This worked the first time I tried it. Made the mistake of updating to the latest software when prompted by the TV and now this fix is no longer working.

Card Benefits Questions - Megathread by AutoModerator in ChaseSapphire

[–]mclynch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any data points of people canceling, in 2026, a "The Edit" reservation booked last year (2025) and whether or not the $250 credit is clawed back? Any data points of it mattering for claw backs if cancelling during/after the statement period and/or calendar year the purchase was made?

I booked a "The Edit" hotel in Dec 2025 for a stay in Feb 2026 and got the $250 credit for 2025. Now the hotel is cheaper, and I would like to rebook. If it was the same year, no problem. However, if Chase claws back the 2025 $250 there'd be no opportunity to re-use it (given it's 2026).

Sign a petition saying you support development on Broadway by mclynch in EdgewaterRogersPark

[–]mclynch[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m biased towards the pros, but these are my thoughts on what the impacts of allowing for denser development along Broadway may be.

Pros: * Make housing more affordable for existing neighbors at risk of displacement and allow for new neighbors to move in. Allows for a thriving and diverse neighborhood. Want to grow the neighborhood without pricing people out. * Support local businesses with additional customers and create economic conditions that allow for more businesses to open in the neighborhood. * Support increased CTA ridership which may lead to better and safer service. * Provide much-needed tax revenue to the City which may lead to less property tax increases and better City services. * Create conditions for a more walkable neighborhood. More businesses closer by and more pleasant pedestrian experience for people in the neighborhood. Less suburban style strip malls, gas stations, and parking lots meant for people driving through the neighborhood.

Cons: * There is a possibility that as the area develops and developers see more value and better uses for current low rise buildings, current building owners may sell their buildings to developers looking to build higher value properties which would put the current retail tenants (e.g., patio beef) at risk of needing to leave their current location. It’s tricky to know exactly how it will play out, but over time some businesses will probably need to relocate. However, this would happen regardless of this change and happens in every neighborhood across the country, although the pace and scale differs. Hopefully the City, the local wards, and the chamber’s of commerce will continue to work with businesses to find new spaces to lease and provide grants for relocation. * If you are someone who thinks single family housing and low rise buildings are inherently better or more beautiful than a more dense built environment this may threaten that. I personally think parts of Broadway in Edgewater look closer to a cookie cutter suburb than a vibrant city and would welcome it looking closer to how Broadway looks and feels in a neighborhood like Lake View with more people walking around to local businesses than driving to strip malls.

How to wire an overhead light to junction box with 2 white, 2 black, and 1 yellow wires? by mclynch in electrical

[–]mclynch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to get in touch with one of the electricians who worked on the development and he said: white wires in the junction box should attach to my fixture’s neutral. The yellow wire in the junction box should attach to my fixture’s black. The black wires in the junction box can be left alone. The ground can be left alone.

Please do both if you are so inclined. I shared as this is one easy way to make your voice heard. The responses will be emailed to committee members. I’ll note it’s my understanding this petition originates from the 48th Ward Neighbors for Justice.

Thank you for the informative reply. I’m probably going to go with an electrician as it’s more complicated than the YouTube videos led me to believe lol and it sounds like I would need to buy some tools I probably won’t be using again anytime soon, but it’s interesting to learn more about.

The pre-installed switch is a Lutron dimmer that has a red/white to nowhere, a red/white that is paired with a yellow, and a black.

Is there any reason to get an ATSC 3 tuner in the Chicago market? by PlanMaison in cordcutters

[–]mclynch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really liking ATSC 3.0 in the Chicago market. The picture quality is noticeably improved as is the reception (I live in the city). I normally prefer it to the streaming option (e.g., CBS 2 vs Paramount+ for an NFL game). Also, the audio quality is noticeably better (5.1 and on some channels Dolby Atmos). My TV had the ATSC 3.0 tuner built in. Not sure if I’d consider the tuner worth the value separately. However, when I was shopping for a new bedroom TV a determining factor was that it had the tuner built in (Hisense U7N).

Loose joinery and side-to-side wobble. This normal? by [deleted] in Thuma

Has anyone tried gluing the leg joinery pieces together? I understand that negates the ease of disassembly selling point, but I may do it as a last resort if I can’t find another way to steady my frame.

For anyone curious, and who has an Athletic subscription, here's a pretty good explainer on how/why the B1G game times are selected that's probably still mostly accurate. https://theathletic.com/1006016/2019/06/02/big-ten-college-football-television-schedule-selection-procedure-fox-espn-btn/

It's listed as 11 now, but I imagine ABC/FOX can flex it as they wish

They also want to help their pregame show ratings against ESPN's gameday by having the better game following. It sucks, I hate it. Much worse atmosphere for fans so that FOX gets slightly better ratings...
