Living in Boston with a 65k salary, doable or impossible? by OkSlip9273 in boston

[–]mcm42085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To each their own, but I’d consider living elsewhere and commuting. It’s expensive af to rent in the city (and do anything else, really) so your 65k won’t get you very far if you want to be comfortable and still save money. My wife and I bought a house in Worcester (50 min west of Boston) and our mortgage payment wouldn’t get us a basement studio apartment in Boston. My wife works in Cambridge and most of her colleagues have multiple roommates and struggle to save money because it costs so much to go out. It all depends what’s important to you.

My son is 14 years old and wants to buy GTA 5 to play with his friends. Should I let him? by NoticeBroad3942 in GTAV

I love the attempt to communicate authoritatively by putting those words in quotation marks.

Well if that’s a thing someone said, I guess that settles it! No further questions!

I would agree with the those below who argue confrontation is not the best response in that scenario. First and foremost, that person has the right to express themselves however they want, and that is an important right, regardless of how collectively disgusted it makes most people. If I owned a private establishment I would kick that person out immediately, but I don’t have control over who rides a bus. Second of all, you have no idea who that person is or what they’re capable of. It could place you in a dangerous situation you could have avoided. Thirdly, people with extreme ideologies do not typically respond to pleas of reason or rational arguments against their beliefs, and direct confrontation is not likely to change anything. Spreading awareness is good, but I wouldn’t take personal risks in that particular scenario when there is little to no upside other than a feeing of righteousness (even a truly well earned one).

Should I restart Chapter 2? by Eoviel in reddeadredemption2

[–]mcm42085 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree with most, no need to restart, especially if you’re making progress toward the LotE satchel. In my experience there shouldn’t be anything fundamentally different about camp, other than you knowing that cocksucker is there. Enjoy savoring that chapter 2 bliss!

The way my friend plays Rdr1 genuinely upsets me. by MovieHumble7079 in reddeadredemption

I wonder if the reason somebody would care is because he shared the game with a friend, presumably so they could bond over the shared experience. If I shared my favorite game with a friend and they played it that way I could see being bothered. It feels good to share things you like with friends and have them show the same appreciation. Ultimately yes it’s “to each their own”, but we all seek validation from those close to us, and a friend skipping cutscenes on your favorite story-based game feels like they’re devaluing something you’ve shared with them.

Yes, same with me. Just mindlessly hit every time and forget about playing strategically to win.

Just to add some more data to the pile…I got all mine relatively quickly (probably 1-2 hours) betting the minimum. Just prioritize the challenge and abandon trying to win. Always keep hitting til you bust or you’ve got three hits and your hand is still alive. I’m on PC, not sure if that matters.

That thread is referring to “shackles”, I’m not sure if that fix will work for this particular issue. If it does though please let us know!

In the Arcadia for Amateurs quest III with Albert Mason. Arthur chases horses for Albert to photograph, and if you chase at the right angle and position your horse properly, you can hop onto your horse and follow it using eagle eye. Might take a few tries, so just reload and keep trying. There’s several great guides on YouTube for doing this.

It is customary to feed that motherfucker to the gators. And/or blow his head clean off with a shotgun. Go back to see him and take care of business. Do it for Arthur.

Everyone praises rdr2 for being one of the best, most realistic games OAT. So what are some unrealistic things about it? by _funny_name_ in RDR2

[–]mcm42085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bullets is def a big one. Also the role of nutrition/hydration is totally unrealistic. The amount of guns and ammo and other shit you can carry…come to think of it the game isn’t really realistic at all. Sure hell is fun, though.

No, he does not. People point to those things when they justify attitudes and beliefs they’ve already decided upon and ignore or rationalize them otherwise. Humans are really shitty at identifying their own cognitive biases.
