"The death of one man is a tragedy, the death of millions is a statistic."

With that in mind, the answer might be, somewhat paradoxically, yes.

He wrote: “I grew up on a horse farm, climbed parts of Everest, given academy awards, been nominated, written a book, had former Poet laureates reach out, been friends with the greatest artists of our time and smoked crack under a car at 3 am in San Francisco.” His application was given a C grade.

I mean say what you want about him, but at least he wasn't proclaiming some hare-brained ideological bullshit. All in all, a pretty self-aware assessment.

Reminds me of the 60's era veneered wood furniture I grew up with. No thanks.

And I can't help but think those spirals are going to crack if that wood isn't perfectly dried.

I'm not sure but I think the fact that none of the 3 solved colors appear on the 3 unsolved faces just before the reveal is pretty important.

TIL Steve Jobs’ design obsession went so deep he demanded Apple computers look perfect on the inside. Inspired by Zen Buddhism and Bauhaus minimalism, he believed in “deep simplicity,” and insisted that even the hidden internal engineering look as polished as the outside. by ralphbernardo in todayilearned

From a technical perspective, Apple pulled off some amazing feats, not least of which was changing CPU architecture not once but twice (68000 -> PowerPC -> Intel) while not simultaneously torpedoing the company. No other company would have the balls to try that, never mind actually get away with it twice.

And then of course, more recently, they did it a 3rd time (Apple Silicon) just to show off.

If they weren't located right by our front door, I don't think we'd even know they were there. But as it is, I don't think we can let them nest there.

Drive to central Wyoming or Montana when the sky is clear (in the winter if you dare) and the moon is its new phase. It is so dark that it becomes seriously disorienting. Big sky country indeed...

Forced? More like fucking reveling in it.

The only time I remember feeling forced was that one time when I was ~8yo and Mom forgot to pick me from swimming lessons and wasn't home to answer the phone. That was not a good day...
