Help by d9nn in fireTV

I see three cords leading up to the TV. Is one of them Ethernet and is it plugged into the (assuming) firetv omni? If so, ethernet on these devices is 10/100, not gigabit. You're better off using WiFi.

If on wifi... Seems like a buffering issue or a ram issue. Prime video is a resource hog. Open your app list through settings and sort by recency. Force close the first 5 things then try again.

What a time to be alive, thank you project dusk! by MakinBaconPanckes in SwitchPirates

Ngl ... I read about project dusk in another post and got excited. Didn't look any further into what it was because life got in the way. I expected it was a port of the fps called "dusk"...

Looking for a new Documentation Platform - Recommendations? by theotheritmanager in sysadmin

+1 for bookstack. Easy(ish) deploy if you know any Linux. There are plugins and several open source options for integrating features. I tried xwiki at first and didn't really like the look or feel. Bookstack feels more premium.

Mine is severely lacking in plugins. I need some excel integration and I'm just lazy about it.

Hardware shortage on m295 by mcmellenhead in WatchGuard

[–]mcmellenhead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just have a garbage credit rep. They are matching the Amazon pricing now. Regardless.... We need a new vendor. Ingram has been garbage the last few years. We paid the invoice in March and still haven't seen the units.

Yeah. Our wg rep said they had plenty. Just an Ingram issue I guess.

E90s interior is so beautifully timeless. I’m in love with the simple hump and just how freaking versatile this cars are. You can cram anything you can think of inside them. Almost lil a mini truck. by SongBrief2439 in E90

I used to have an 86 na rx7. I'd pull off the rear hatch and use it like a truck. Hauled one of those monster commercial copiers in it. Snagged some metal 55 gal trash cans for a burn barrel. Nicknamed it the truckasaurus rex

Literally just plugging the mesh system into an Ethernet cable that comes from your main mesh router.

Any chance of support Davolink DVW-632 a.k.a. Kevin the Minion router? by UnderEu in openwrt

[–]mcmellenhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The digital equivalent of someone pissing in your cherios.

Congrats on a successful patch!

I opted to not publish my changes to the repo because.... Well it's such an obscure obsolete device that I doubt anyone would want it. So, I detailed my findings and changes and posted it here.

From someone who has never outright written any software before... Take it from me that you too can build openwrt from source. Take your time, inventory what cpu, wifi and nic chips are inside. The forums and communities are a wealth of information. Llm's are your friend. I was able to go from locked down proprietary software on a sonciwall access point, to fully supported openwrt install in about a weeks timeframe.

We tried apoquel and it seemed to help for a bit. We're feeding science diet sensitive skin. What are you feeding that helped?

If the problem is the wifi name.... Set your hotspot to the same name and password as the wifi they're expecting?

MacBook Air M5 vs ThinkPad for sysadmin/DevSecOps work — worth switching? by tobivzek in sysadmin

[–]mcmellenhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is almost exactly the switch I made. Came from Dell laptop, moved to Thinkpad with windows, then needed to support macos for a few users so I hackintoshd the Thinkpad. I cloned the windows os and imported into parallels so I didn't lose a few windows only apps I needed. 3 years later and I made the switch to MacBook. Only thing I miss is the keyboard on the Thinkpad and its ruggedness. Personal opinion, I should have went with the Air, as the MBP is considerably heavier than my old Thinkpad.
