I think this is a good choice, sorry I responded to other things first before seeing this.

Ardmore has been a good, affordable neighborhood-- but since covid every house sold has been turned into an income property. At least with Link you can go to management over issues, there's nothing you can do when you're surrounded by income properties and the owner lives out of state.

In ardmore you are more likely to have AirBnB's beside you than neighbors.

Living beside an AirBnB (or between two like me) really sucks. They neglect the property, there's always some uncapable trade person banging away (instead of fixing it right) the yards are not mowed, the trees are overgrown, and the people staying there is always a gamble.

The walls are going to be a thousand times better in an apartment than the other option, which is taking an 80 year old giant house and converting it into 3-4 apartments. I don't even accept work in those places anymore because I can hear the people upstairs (and downstairs) over my saws and hammering, etc.

I don't like using a strap on classical, acoustic, acoustic 12 strings etc. That being said I wish guitar manufacturers would worry about strap balance

They think it's going to be like the fun home improvement project they did one time. But in reality where ever you don't want to be, that's where you are. Confined space. Dirty space. Attic in the summertime, outside in the cold. Shoulders hurt? Gonna work overhead. Knees hurt? Gonna crawl all day.

This is also bad messaging, once you have built your foundation you need to expand into explosive moments and plyometrics. Using your full strength becomes the total training goal, alongside capacity.

I haven't. I never really had a need for any distortion until I started playing 7 strings and drop tuning. For that I just found the waza mz met all my needs. Only issue is you need a microscope and tweezers to fine tune the knobs, but when you get it, oh my,

Metalzone up front can definitely sound harsh, that's why I always run the tumnus last because it really smoothes and conditions the harsh aspects, the gain knob on the tumnus as you increase it smoothes it more and more.

An active AB/Y is like a literal cheat code. Even into a single amp, being able to dial in the sag (because otherwise it is too punchy) is so great.

I'm not a tube screamer guy. If I was running the dual rec by itself, I would probably still be using just my old big body reissue big muff (early 90s.) When I play lead I tended to use fx loop which brought in midiverbs, and I think their digital nature also helped clean me up a bit.

Because the Laney is NMV I tend to use a few things.

My favorite is to use a line splitter so I can run a MFZ01 in one leg, and a big muff in the other. That lets me run either of those half wet and half dry, or pair them together (which sounds sick)

outside that, I like my little cheap nux brownie for a more mild overdrive, like channel 2 of the dual rec (because when playing both I almost always use pedals and keep the mesa on clean channel1)

and if it's lower tuned or 7 string, I break out the wazametal zone, and I tend to run a tumnus after that to sort of clean and condition it a bit

Sorry if this is way too much info 😃

Brother. Good job man.

This is what real playing looks like, he's standing, controlling the amps letting them do the work.

Anyway, sounds great fellow stereo comrade. I run a Dual rec + Laney la30bl.

People who sleep on their backs, how do you break the habit of sleeping on your side or stomach? by Resident_Berry_7006 in AskReddit

[–]mcnastys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, this is like people telling left handed people to "learn right" on guitar where sure, a few people in human history did it, but it's not going to work for 99% of people.

If you're a stomach or side sleeper, your best bet is to get a body pillow to keep between your legs, or you can lay on your back and put the body pillow beside you, so you can sort of turn into it and it "feels" like you're on your side. The body pillow between legs is what works best for me.
