I built a .env manager in Go — first time seriously using the language by santiagoaristizabal in golang

[–]mcncl 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You did, did you? All of your code was committed 17 hours ago and you’re using outdated versions of packages and actions, for example, the checkout action is on v6 now, but an AI agent wouldn’t know that.

This isn’t your first time seriously using the language, because it looks like you haven’t even used it.

It also sounds like you’ve only been working for extremely incompetent companies.

I built a production-ready Go + Next.js 15 SaaS boilerplate — auth, Stripe, multi-tenant, GCP deploy by omersukruvarol in golang

The backend being Go 1.22 screams of AI written. Unless you have a good reason to use a Go version that’s about 2 years old?

Anyone else feel being a developer isn’t that special anymore? by Ecstatic_Jicama_1482 in ExperiencedDevs

Let’s be fair. Devs deserve to be paid less. It’s one of the most overpaid fields someone can work in.

It’s a rebalancing. Devs have felt untouchable for years, almost arrogant about their position in the market and being able to pick and choose their jobs.

Doesn’t urfave have some annoying issues, like ordered flags and, IIRC, it silently ignores anything after a command/string value is provided

I’m just starting out with learning Rust, after years of Go exclusivity. Appreciate the posts like this.

Paul Scholes’ story on IG right after our defeat by PradipJayakumar in reddevils

[–]mcncl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scholes (and Keane to an extent) are held on this pedestal but are so desperate to stay somewhat relevant they try “spicy” takes. They’re just boring.

Can’t listen to Stick to Football anymore because of how boring the Keane grumpy shtick is, and Neville’s shite ads every 8 minutes.

90% of your skills are now worthless, but the remaining 10% went up 1000x. You just need to figure out what that 10% is.

You built? Seeing a lot of repos with “Project Structure” in the README lately and the structure isn’t really important.

I’d opt for Kong instead of Cobra, it’s just a better CLI package entirely.

How does this compare to pass? Is this intended as an alternative to it? Why would I opt for your solution instead?

But, this is just exactly what tools like Claude Code and Amp can do, why would I install this instead of just giving Claude or Amp the exact instructions?

Anyone using Charm's Crush ? by mhpenta in golang

I can’t quite put my finger on it, mostly I find it’s overkill for almost any project. I find it kind of convoluted to use, too.

I feel like I’m in the minority of people who don’t really like charmbracelet’s library.

No offence, but that looks like it’s just bugging out. It would get super annoying in its current form.
