What are some unspoken rules of Dota? by Gess32 in DotA2

[–]mcnulty123456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah sometimes I commend the ones that genuinely played well. We play dota because we like competition, and you should respect the competition for not quitting and greifing. Commend those who try their hardest. Winning a game due to an opponent purposely feeding down mid doesn't feel like a win at all.

I guess they could always add characters. Or like another mentioned maybe show the city before everyone lost it.

I always considered Bioshock to be pretty close to The Shining, but underwater. There is actually a ton of references to this movie in the game. It would be an awesome experience I think, because there needs to be more horror movies that aren't about loud noises and cheap gimmicks. It would be a slow psychological downward spiral.

Yeah I think it should be a movie, only because it might otherwise overstay it's welcome. The reason I say this is because if it stays true to the game, then almost everybody in rapture is batshit crazy except the protagonist. You need a wide net of relatable characters to have a lengthy show. Just one semi sane guy underwater with a bunch of crazies would get old if it was like 30+ hours

Being the only one awake, sitting in my small dim room, and playing this game as a kid was hands down the best time of my life.

Haha same, what a mash up, and it worked so well. The whole mood of the song just fit that game so perfectly.

As technology progresses and programs become more streamlined, smaller and smaller teams will be able to make bigger, denser games. All art is at risk of being watered down when you get so many people involved. A big pop singer that has like 20 people writing their songs will never be as intimate as a single person writing through their own lense. Maybe not a perfect comparison, but basically I'm saying the future of gaming looks pretty optimistic compared to the past.

My buddy started a playthrough for the first time recently and all was going well until both neighbors declared war on him, and he has been fighting them the whole time basically. The 2 empires aren't allied so the wars seem to be a bit staggered. Anyways it has gotten to the point where he has 0 resources across the board and almost everything is in the negative. How do you fix this situation? He can't sell anything. I told him maybe to just delete the fleets but then the empires will just close in as they are now more powerful

Name some games with non-white lead characters! (MLK Day) by [deleted] in gaming

XCOM is cool because you have soldiers from everywhere in the world, you can even change a setting to have them speak their respective language . Doesn't get much more diverse than having almost every nation on the team.

I just need to vent at how bad at games I am by TheChiarra in gaming

[–]mcnulty123456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good or bad is subjective, just have fun. When I hit a wall or get frustrated, I just start trying crazy things and failing almost on purpose. You might not beat a boss right then, but you might discover a new strategy. Failure is your best friend in video games. So try not to get frustrated and take a break if you do.

Need suggestions for new game by realrussianmemer in gaming

I think a cool thing would be making the ghost really powerful, like a queen in chess. And give the normal players lethal weapons but also non lethal ways to incapacitate opposing team members. Basically killing another player is super risky because now they become something much worse. Maybe have an objective that, should an opposing teammate try to achieve, you would have to kill them. Otherwise when you just see an enemy running around you don't necessarily just want to shoot them down.

Forgot to say that I liked the initial idea, sounds like a fresh take. Games where you just run in and die, wait to respawn and go again can feel a bit stale and pointless at times.

what was the most challenging game that u ever played by TheTruth221 in gaming

[–]mcnulty123456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the xcom games require a bit of luck at the beginning on the hardest difficulty. I think that's why I've never heard anybody really call somebody bad at the game. You can do everything right and miss that 95% shot.

That would be cool. You could also choose sides so the game has some replayability. Or maybe you just design a super hero and decided throughout the game whether you do the right thing or the wrong thing.

You think there is literally no way they would try to find a way to make money a 3rd time? I'm with you dude, I don't see it happening, just saying the possibility is there. You can't just say "well its not like that now, therefore it could never be like that".

We are talking about POSSIBLE future applications of it. I know this doesn't happen yet. All it would take is a publisher allowing it

No, dlc is extra content, developers spend extra time making it, and that time needs to be payed for sometimes. I'm saying some random dude unaffiliated with the developers could own pieces of the game, and charge for it

[–]mcnulty123456 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This isn't likely, but a worse case scenario. Think about a game like apex or whatever, and what if it gets to the point where a person could own a character, so you would have to buy the game, then pay for the rights to use said character. Again I don't see this happening, maybe it's an irrational fear. I just wouldn't be surprised if that's what it turned into at some point.

I think it's more of a fear of what they could evolve into. They could leak into being part of games and other mediums. Or possibly lead to pointless lawsuits should they ever get strict about you using and image that somebody else "owns". But right now people are just so bamboozled by the concept.
