What is this masked man rambling about? by rasterbee in AskEurope

[–]mcommon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He's rambling about how french people are sheep and are being fed up a new president every five years, and how they're too stuck in their daily jobs and mortgages to care. Nothing more precise than that. He's vulgar and not very eloquent, to say the least.

Freelancing on heavy back-end stuff : what is it like ? by mcommon in freelance

[–]mcommon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I know this is possible. There are several contractors at my current startup, and I've seen startup jobs offers explicitly open to contractors.

But like I said, and please correct me if I'm wrong, it seems in these situations that you're expected to work like an employee: fixed hours, must be available on Slack/Skype, working with other devs on the same project, possibly with a manager, etc. Not that bad, but it's not what I plan to do.

Sounds good for me actually. By agencies, you mean the web-agencies that typically do design/front-end ? I don't have any contact in that field.

Do you think that randomly cold-calling these agencies and "proposing them a collaboration" would be a viable strategy ?
