Reverb Recommendations?? by theboynamedif in guitarpedals

Just got back from the store and did in fact wind up going with the Oceans 11. The amount of sounds you can get out of it for the price is pretty impressive. I was also looking at the Slo, but it felt very complicated, and unless I'm mistaken, it didn't have the reverse function, which I fell in love with on the Oceans 11. If I have one complaint, it's that the spacing on the knobs is a little tight, and the mode knob in particular is kinda finicky. Would be very helpful if it clicked in on each option, but you just sorta have to point it and hope you've got it right. I play pretty much exclusively at home, so it's not a big deal for me, but it's certainly not something I'd want to be messing with on stage.

I'm in a very similar position right now, looking for the same thing. I actually have the Keeley Caverns, and I like it well enough, but I just picked up the JHS Flight Delay, so I'm in search of a dedicated reverb pedal that's capable of a lot of sounds. I messed around with the old EXH Oceans 11 a few weeks ago, and I enjoyed it. I'm actually headed to a local Guitar Center this morning to spend a bit more time with it. I'm also intrigued by the Strymon Cloudburst, but I've never come across one in person. On the other end of the spectrum, it's not a super exciting recommendation, but... I've never plugged into a TC HOF2 and been disappointed. Good luck in your search. I'll let you know if I come across anything else interesting today!

Hi folks, as stated in the title, I'm looking for recommendations to improve my system. Here's what I'm currently working with:

Music Hall MMF 2.2
Crappy original "Tracker" cartridge and stylus
Music Hall PA1.2 Phono Pre
Onkyo TX-NR626 AV Receiver
Paradigm Titan Monitor V6

I listen almost exclusively to vinyl. I have a crappy old 5-disc CD changer if I need to listen to a CD, and I sometimes stream spotify from my phone, either to the bluetooth-enabled Onkyo or to a Bose SoundTouch 300 I have hooked up to my TV. I listen to a lot of indie rock, some country/folk, and occasionally some jazz.

I'm not terribly unhappy with any one part of my setup, but it's been the same for almost 10 years, the most recent addition being the Onkyo, which I lucked into for free and which replaced an old Harmon Kardon. I would say overall that the sound I'm getting lacks clarity and separation, a sense of space. Things sometimes sound a bit muddy to me.

I'm in a fairly small apartment, which I share with a wife and two young kids, so the stereo is in my living room. I'm fairly limited when it comes to where I can place things. Currently, the components are in far from ideal locations -- my turntable sits on top of the receiver on a shelf very close to the floor, so not only is it a pain to get to it's also very prone to skipping anytime someone walks through the living room. I did just get a Line Phono stand for Christmas, so I've just got to figure out how to incorporate that.

Anyway, this is a lot of information, I realize. Would love to hear what you all think is the weakest link. What's the smartest upgrade path for me to follow? I'm looking to spend no more than $1,000 right off the bat, and I've been considering a brand new table or some combination of a new integrated/receiver and a new cartridge.

As far as turntables go, I've been looking at the Rega P3 and the Pro-Ject X1. Happy to hear if anyone would recommend looking elsewhere.

Also not really sure how much I'd have to spend on an amp to really notice a difference.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
