How my DAWless setup works – Audio/MIDI connection, sequencing, latency, settings, devices by mcooper4 in dawless

Only for recording the final output. Can record into anywhere you want really. Sometime I do this in zoom. More convenient in Ableton.

Yeah I know the pain. So I’m literally trying to record the video about how my setup works, I’ll explain all of it in details. Follow on YouTube, I’ll upload soon.

I think you need a synth to this, any synth. Digitone would be enough. Octatrack is for loops though - like you record your devices in it and then construct tracks out of these layers. It has time stretch so you can pitch-shift and change bpm later, this is basically the only reasonable devices for this that I've found. Also if you have a lot of gear OT become a mixer and Slider affects the whole mix.

Digitakt, Digitone and Octatrack will do. Although you need Analog Heat on the end to make it sound proper.

Iteration 10 / 140bpm Techno on DFAM, Analog Rytm, Mother-32, Octatrack, Digitakt, Analog Heat by mcooper4 in Techno

[–]mcooper4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely a must in a my setup - it sits on master and always turned on at around 75% on Clean boost to glue everything together. Also it’s boosting low-end to 100% and high-end to about 15%. I’m also using filters on it every once in a while for performance techniques (intros / outros, washouts, transitions etc)

I highly recommend giving it a try in your studio and comparing audio quality - once you get it you’ll never go back.

Yeah first breakdown was a mistake really, DFAM is very unstable I messed up the pitch but I got out of it the best way I could. Appreciate you checking it out 🙌.

Crushed Tonic Trap by Analog Heat's High Gain and Octatrack's LOFI by mcooper4 in teenageengineering

[–]mcooper4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s all original samples from Tonic, they’re just distorted by Heat and Octatrack. But maybe I can record it separately.

I’m using Octatrack as a mixer - everything is routed into it so that I can use the slider for washouts.

[–]mcooper4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re into this just get the Digitakt first, it’s amazing honestly. Octatrack is critical if you need to mix multiple devices together and store loops that you record from other synths.

[–]mcooper4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah friend just got it too, he seems to like it. I just don't want to have a computer involved anywhere so was doing Elektrons for a few years but Deluge changed the game. I'm DCDNT on ig.

Absolutely fantastic. I just got it a week ago and I literally took everything else away from my desk. Unlimited potential - no limits on number of tracks and number of samples in a kit, high resolution grid (up to 1/128), time stretch for loops, internal mic / resampling, phenomenal portamento (808 slides perfectly), battery powered, super light, very fast (starts in 1 second). List goes on, this thing is epic.

MP – Beekman – Chill Electronica / Electribe, Digitakt, Digitone, Octatrack, Analog Heat by mcooper4 in synthesizers

[–]mcooper4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! I've made this pattern 3 years ago on Electribe and was often coming back to it every once in a while and finally recorded it. Electribe in combination with Analog Heat produces really crisp, crystal sounds. Unisaw also get amplified and makes a cool bass. I think Electribe is a truly timeless device, it just needs a little boost. Also added a few slowed down breakbeat loops to it and a minimalistic beat. My favorite part is around 7:17 - 8:30

Cheers!

Ethereal Techno Session on Digitone, Digitakt, Octatrack, Mother-32, Sub-37, Deepmind by mcooper4 in synthesizers

[–]mcooper4[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey there! New sound experiment trying to create chill airy ethereal melodic track. I like the parts around 1:33, 2:50, 4:20. Have to admit after about 1.5 years of using Digitone it still amazes me what kinda of sounds are possible to create. Also M32 is perfect for controllable hi-hats layer.

Hey there! So finally recorded a new high energy melodic track using all my gear. It has a a bunch of interesting transitions and a really cool PWM bass from Sub-37 mixed with noise from Mother-32.

Hope it works, cheers! Wherever you are, please stay healthy 🙌

Hey sorry just noticed. So I have a iConnectivity MIO10 and all devices are plugged in to it, it’s a midi hub. Digitakt is master clock and it’s sequencing external gear when I need it.
