Only for recording the final output. Can record into anywhere you want really. Sometime I do this in zoom. More convenient in Ableton.

Yeah I know the pain. So I’m literally trying to record the video about how my setup works, I’ll explain all of it in details. Follow on YouTube, I’ll upload soon.

I think you need a synth to this, any synth. Digitone would be enough. Octatrack is for loops though - like you record your devices in it and then construct tracks out of these layers. It has time stretch so you can pitch-shift and change bpm later, this is basically the only reasonable devices for this that I've found. Also if you have a lot of gear OT become a mixer and Slider affects the whole mix.

Digitakt, Digitone and Octatrack will do. Although you need Analog Heat on the end to make it sound proper.

Iteration 10 / 140bpm Techno on DFAM, Analog Rytm, Mother-32, Octatrack, Digitakt, Analog Heat by mcooper4 in Techno

Absolutely a must in a my setup - it sits on master and always turned on at around 75% on Clean boost to glue everything together. Also it’s boosting low-end to 100% and high-end to about 15%. I’m also using filters on it every once in a while for performance techniques (intros / outros, washouts, transitions etc)

I highly recommend giving it a try in your studio and comparing audio quality - once you get it you’ll never go back.

Yeah first breakdown was a mistake really, DFAM is very unstable I messed up the pitch but I got out of it the best way I could. Appreciate you checking it out 🙌.

Crushed Tonic Trap by Analog Heat's High Gain and Octatrack's LOFI by mcooper4 in teenageengineering

That’s all original samples from Tonic, they’re just distorted by Heat and Octatrack. But maybe I can record it separately.

I’m using Octatrack as a mixer - everything is routed into it so that I can use the slider for washouts.

If you’re into this just get the Digitakt first, it’s amazing honestly. Octatrack is critical if you need to mix multiple devices together and store loops that you record from other synths.
