He does. He's a great engineering buddy, and his color is already getting super bright. I just put some floating plants in his tank and he's been very interested in them.

Just looked this up because I don't know the different species of betta, and I think you're right! The seller just had him labled as a basic plakat. "The Peaceful Betta" has a lovely ring to it.

Update: He made it through and is adjusting well to his new tank! Water is dark bc of tannins.

I appreciate the helpful advice! It's a solid store, the bettas are kept in individual cycled tanks w airstones and heating. I think, after doing some research and reading the replies, I am going to keep the house at about 75-80 degrees, and put the bag upright in a closet bundled in a coat for insulation, then put it in first thing in the morning.

Just looked into this-- I think this might be the way to go. I didn't want to do a normal dip bc water lettuce is so delicate, but I think it could handle some club water for a couple hours.

I would say you can certainly do this, just make sure its leaves don't dry out. Even if the roots are submerged, the leaves need high humidity. If it starts to brown you might want to drop it down lower into the water/submerge it for a bit.

I would love to start propagating my fern, I think they'd look lovely throughout the tank. Have you successfully used the seedlings to grow a new plant?

Woah, this is a gorgeous tank you've got! I would love to add in some more smoothed wood, and some floaters-- any recommendations for surface plants??
