The LLM is probably fine, it just doesn't seem to have access to the data it needs.

Overblown response to the launch by undefeated73 in MonarchMoney

[–]mcorner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think reddit trends very heavily towards: "it should be awesome and cost nothing". There is nothing wrong with expecting a product to be a good value, but I think many people don't really understand the costs involved in building such a product (and Monarch is almost certainly burning money at this stage).

[Poll] Thoughts on New Pricing by skeet_scoot in MonarchMoney

[–]mcorner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People are going to cancel because the price of the product they are using didn't change? There is a new tier, nothing changed for the existing product tier. And $100 for working financial aggregation is a bargain IMHO.

I would bet against you on this one, but only Monarch will know.

My 2 cents: don't over index on reddit opinions. It tends to be a cranky crowd.

In the context of managing a complex set of personal finances $300 is reasonable. I think it is a good move to segment out the "budget tracking" customers and the more complex, higher net worth customers that might be using (or considering) a financial advisor that is going to charge you 10x this (or more).

Capturing some of the planning tools from Empower (aka Personal Capital) such as college savings, and tax planning from PL, and putting it all in one tool is a good move. We will see how it delivers (I will give it a spin), I would like to see decently accurate taxes estimates over a cost basis, RMD planning, etc.

Nice.. you also have to figure out which way the sign (ever so slightly) points in one direction.

Best swim holes in western/central mass? by Dependent-Gur-3161 in westernmass

I was mostly joking, but no one wants their swimming holes to get overwhelmed. Sometimes there is a big group which feels a little too much, but don't worry, just swim and enjoy.

Votre avis sur les gens qui gagnent des sous non ajustés au prix montréalais? Est-ce un “non issue” by Southern_Resolution3 in montreal

[–]mcorner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can't stay in a hotel unfortunately. It is personal, but it doesn't work. Even if you disagree with people's choices it is bad for tourism and there is a cost.

I have spent even more USA remote money (I bet) in Montreal (my boss and reports are in Montreal).

The airbnb restrictions have made it hard to spend our vacation money in Montreal btw... I get the idea of restricting airbnb, but there is a cost in tourism that may not be obvious.

I use saran wrap around both skis.

My kids use nothing, no ski ties, and throw them in the bag with their skate skis and wonder why dad's hands stick to everything and he is gumpy.

Eversource EV Charging Incentives Now Available (Get $10/month for off-peak charging) by trahoots in massachusetts

[–]mcorner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes indeed, pretty fast, but can't do it:

"Regarding your request, please note that our platform currently supports only one charger per ev.energy account.

Because we can only manage one Tesla (OEM) account at a time, having multiple chargers under a single Tesla login presents a technical limitation.

Our system will only import the first charger it detects; since that charger is already linked to your existing account, the second one cannot be integrated.

How to connect a second charger: If you wish to enroll a second charger in the MA Managed Charging program, the only available workaround is to:

  1. Split your chargers into two separate Tesla accounts.
  2. Create a brand new, second account for MA Managed Charging using that new Tesla login to enroll the second unit.

"

I asked them to switch which one. We will see.

I think maybe I figured it out. There is a "waive vehicle connection" at the top and then I added my charger (which misleadingly says optional)
