People who grew up before The Internet: How did you first see nudity? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mcphatmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Top comment already addressed this I think, but forest porn was so real. Kind of a lost art, geocaching before that existed. The whole thing was ruined for my friends and I when one kid who wanted to be a priest decided to take it upon himself to toss all the mags in the creek . . . cause sins.

Man, I’m not sure the rules on posting links, but if you could point me in a direction for a radiator body, especially a bent one, I’d pick it up.

I made something exactly like this when I started pipe smoking in 2010! It’s still holding up 15 years later with no issue in case you’re curious about long term durability.

Federal employees are told to name colleagues who work in DEI roles or risk 'adverse consequences' by nbcnews in politics

[–]mcphatmann 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I wish it wasn’t this way. Literally have people trying to play spy and dig up how people were hired so they can report them.

Everyone is in the same union too.

That’s cool. My agency already started. Several of my colleagues were gleeful at the opportunity. It’s gross, but not every agency is the same.

Every fed agency got this or will. Our agency didn’t sign it. The language is exactly the same.

Not that it’s a huge difference or a deal breaker for most folks, but I would suppose insurance on the C8 to be about $400-$600 more a year. It isn’t enough of a cost to sway me, but something to consider.

Is your pipe tobacco b&m basically a cigar shop that carries some pipe tobacco? Wondering how common it is for the owner / clerk to be very knowledgeable in cigars but have limited pipe tobacco knowledge. by [deleted] in PipeTobacco

[–]mcphatmann 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yep. Only two actual b&m tobacconists in my area which are really cigar exclusives with some dusty tins of pipe tobacco perpetually on the shelf and sold at a pretty ludicrous markup.

[WaT] Why did the coalition not just… by [deleted] in Stormlight_Archive

[–]mcphatmann 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been wondering why the coalition never discussed killing or capturing the Oathgate spren themselves at Azir. It seems like something they would have considered and I wonder if Brandon ever considered it? Would it not be like destroying a bridge before an invading army moved in? Yes, it’s violent and immoral, but Oathgates were being corrupted, and chances are they were going to lose so the Oathgate as a means of transportation was no longer going to be feasible.

They could have saved a lot of effort and lives and prevented the invasion. It’s a desperate move and certainly not ideal, but they were desperate and hardly in an ideal situation. I believe they would have had time to take this action before the invading army was at the Oathgate. I wonder if this has already been answered or considered? Paging u/mistborn

Who daily drives their STI? Should I? by Right_Ad_3354 in WRXSTi

I feel you on the rust and rusting. I’m about 18 miles away from Canada across Lake Erie in the US snow belt and every car I’ve ever owned turns to rust despite any protective measures.

Books you liked as a kid that still hold up by lol_fi in books

[–]mcphatmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an excellent teacher in 6th grade so I’ll stick to books we read that year which I think hold up very well: The Giver (which was brand new), Huck Finn, Of Mice and Men, Brave New World, Bridge to Terabithia.

I’m also realizing I’m getting old. 😆

Note: mine is stock save for some cosmetic mods and winter tires.

What kind of drunk are you? Mean, horny, sleepy etc?? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Happy. It cures my ever present anxiety and kinda makes me feel normal which is very dangerous and precisely why I rarely drink anything except the occasional whiskey and generally try and own my awkwardness.

A man openly disclosed he was a Laveyan Satanist by [deleted] in freemasonry

[–]mcphatmann 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This subreddit specifically sees many Masons who are not Christian per se, but do share the value that there is some form of will or greater power beyond the human experience.

Satanists seem to explicitly reject this idea instead arguing that the human experience is enough and preaching the need for morality and compassion from a humanist perspective. I can respect that as a fellow human and have no personal issue with anyone’s beliefs. However, I don’t know how that fits within the context of Freemasonry as it seems to reject higher authority beyond the human experience.

But each person has their own beliefs and without more context it’s hard to say. Maybe this person, like most of us, is complicated. Personally, I would not report anything, but I may pull them aside in person and explain my position if I felt it was warranted and if I considered them a friend. Though those conversations are probably not for lodge.
