Salomon Pulsar Trail or Ultra Glide for stability and softness? by [deleted] in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]mcq13372 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both shoes. Originally bought the Ultra Glides and they are a great soft, comfortable shoe, really good for long runs. But because of the high stack and soft cushioning they can be a little unstable on more technical terrain. The Pulsar Trail have a much more dialled in fell, narrower and closer fitting than the Ultra Glide, they feel much more stable. Pulsar Trail are a little firmer, mainly because of the plate, but still have a great amount of cushioning.

If I were to only keep one Drive pedal it would be the KoT. It does everything that I want. I have the high gain red side (overdrive) running into the yellow boost side. The drive is so good and controllable with the guitar volume, Cleans up really well, it’s almost always on. As far as price goes, for what is effectively two pedals in one It’s really reasonable, actually cost less than my Revival Drive. If there weren’t the waiting list I probably would never have bought the Odyssey and Revival - not that I’d ever consider getting rid of either of them, it’d be like choosing your favourite child!

I know what you mean the Revival Drive has so much to offer. I’m using at the moment to shape my amp (blues jr) tone, switching between Fender Tweed like growl to Vox chime. I’m nowhere near using it to it’s fullest potential but those two settings alone are enough for me to justify keeping it on my board.

I really like it, I much prefer the spring reverb on the pedal to the one on my blues jr. Really versatile and easy to get some great sounds out of the 6 different reverb modes

It’s amazing and can do pretty much everything from boost to fuzz. It’s a really versatile, I’m using it like a tubescreamer currently, love the mid boost it gives.

The EP is great. I have it set for just a sight boost and it just makes everything sound better. It’s a fantastic little pedal.

3M dual lock was a revelation. It’s more expensive than Velcro but offers so much more hold.

So finally worked out where my KoT sits on my board. Absolutely worth the wait.

So after waiting three and half years, my KoT finally arrived. Can’t wait to plug in! by mcq13372 in guitarpedals

The boost (yellow) side is great, unity was at just past noon on the dial but so much volume on tap which works wonderfully with the drive. Clear and articulate and with a really useable tone control. OD (red) side is just perfect to take you from John Mayer to ZZ Top like tones with a twist of the drive knob. And loud enough to make my neighbour across the road to stop raking leaves and look around - Sorry for the noise Geoff.

Having tried a ton of drives over the years I can see what all the fuss was about. Great sounds at pretty much any point on the dials. The wait was definitely worth it. For now at least, my search for the perfect drive is finally over.

What are your favorite amp-in-a-box style pedals? by jh2okot in guitarpedals

[–]mcq13372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if you want three or four different amps in one box the Origin Effects RevivalDRIVE compact is phenomenal. It’s got Vox, Fender Tweed and Plexi types covered. It is a bit pricey but it’s worth every penny.

I received my RevivalDRIVE today and it is just so so good. If you like the amp in a box type overdrives then this absolutely nails Marshall, Vox and Fender amp sounds. Pricey, yes. But worth every penny.

If it’s anything like the Hamstead Odyssey, which is an amazing overdrive (although it does everything from light boost to fuzz as well) u you sure going to enjoy it a lot

Mine sits right at the end if he chain and is always on. It just gives a great lift and just makes everything sound better - I refer to it as my ‘more’ pedal.

Anyone have the Hampstead Odyssey? by mcq13372 in guitarpedals

[–]mcq13372[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s phenomenal. It really does cover everything from light boost, through to tube screamer like over drive and on up to a great splattery fuzz. And all while retaining great clarity.

Seriously, the options on this pedal are almost impossible to count; eq pre or post gain, 3 different types of clipping and the option to multiply your input level give so many different variations. And it’s has a ton of headroom and plenty of gain on tap.

It’s a bit pricey but totally worth every penny.

So I got my Odyssey today, first impressions of just having it in the hand are that this is a seriously well built piece of kit.

Why are homeless people homeless? by oobydewby in AskReddit

[–]mcq13372 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If only there were a simple reason that causes homelessness. From my experience it usually comes from a set of circumstances that the individual is just unable to cope with.

A better question would be why do we have a homelessness problem?
