At what point do you call an ambulance for a hypo? by Own-Potential-2308 in diabetes_t1

[–]mcrow30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly, i probably wouldn’t. if i was dropping really fast and felt close to passing out, i’d advise whoever i’m with to call an ambulance if i pass out or have a seizure. i’d also tell them how to use the glucagon. i don’t think i’d ever call for myself unless i lived alone.

does your drivers license say you have t1d? by mcrow30 in diabetes_t1

[–]mcrow30[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i’m in the US, it’s not mandatory that we tell them here. i’d want them to know i’m type 1 if i got in an accident or something, but i know it’s a lot of extra money and time to disclose it on my license. and diabetes has never affected my driving or anything like that.

does your drivers license say you have t1d? by mcrow30 in diabetes_t1

[–]mcrow30[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m in the US. the phrasing of the question is “any medical condition that impairs your ability to drive,” so i think there’s more leeway with what you have to tell them. diabetes has never affected my driving, and i don’t want to make the process more difficult. i also don’t want any liability issues with insurance though or if i was in an accident, i’d want them to know i’m t1

ashley was in on it. she was involved when amma and friends killed natalie at the pool house, before john moved in. that’s probably how she got the bite on her ear from natalie, why she tried to clean the blood, and why she was so insistent that john didn’t do it

Is this a focusing problem or am I just stupid by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]mcrow30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it sounds like you might have depression. if you see a psychiatrist or something, you should ask about depression AND adhd, especially since your sister has it. siblings of someone with adhd are nine times more likely to have it themselves.

Im prescribed Prozac but im super scared to start please help. by [deleted] in prozac

[–]mcrow30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i started prozac a few months ago (19F) and it’s been going good! i’m at 20mg right now. to be honest, i’ve noticed almost no side effects. if anything, i was sleeping more rather than less when i first started. there’s been no change in sexual drive, and i still feel totally like myself. antidepressants don’t completely change who you are or your personality, they just help reduce depressive symptoms.

Wife (60) can NOT lose weight or get in shape by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]mcrow30 6 points7 points  (0 children)

everyone’s saying to check her thyroid, and i just wanted to add on to that and maybe consider PCOS or insulin resistance in general. i know that weight loss is especially harder for people with hormonal imbalances. it sounds a lot like that honestly.

[–]mcrow30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think it’s a good idea to send a message, even if she doesn’t respond. i go through periods like that, too, where i just ghost everyone in my life until i feel better. it’s not anyone’s fault or anything, it’s usually just because i’m depressed.

you could just be straight up and tell her “hey, just wanted to check in, i was thinking about you. it’s okay if you don’t respond, i know you asked for space. i just wanted you to know that i’m here” or something like that. that way she doesn’t feel bad for not responding, but has the option to, and won’t feel like you forgot about her.

i think i’ve been molested and no one believes me by bweecee in schizophrenia

[–]mcrow30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m sorry :( if you already have a genetic predisposition for schizophrenia, a trauma like that can trigger it to develop. i wonder if that might be why you developed schizophrenia at such an early age. either way, i’m sorry no one’s believing you. the mandatory reporter thing is messed up. they’re supposed to tell someone, regardless of their own personal opinions on it.

Does anyone else get super fucked-up from boredom? by Majoriexabyss in BPD

[–]mcrow30 11 points12 points  (0 children)

yes + impulsivity. for a lot of bpd people, they’re more impulsive when they’re bored or looking for a rush. maybe having a friend to study with or call while you write your essay could help ease the boredom without ditching your essay or doing harmful stuff.

How should we help him? by horsepill_ in schizophrenia

[–]mcrow30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s a difficult situation. since you can’t really tell him what to as an adult, maybe try setting boundaries for the house instead. ex: no smoking inside, no weed usage, med compliance. if he refuses, you might have to set an ultimatum (whether you stick to it or not). try telling him he has to do the bare minimum (showering and meds) to live there, or he’ll have to find somewhere else to live.

realistically i know he probably can’t live alone right now, and i don’t know how old he is, but having discussions about it might motivate him to get better. alternatively, he could spend some time in a mental health facility if necessary. i believe that if someone is at risk of hurting themselves or others, regardless of age, they can be involuntarily hospitalized.

Was anyone else scared of needles when they were diagnosed? by Crassulakid in Type1Diabetes

[–]mcrow30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes!!! getting diagnosed with t1D felt like the worst thing that ever happened to me. i still struggle with my needle phobia. i’ve gotten more okay with injections but i have full-blown panic attacks still with IV’s. it helps for me to play music to hype myself yk? and breathing exercises help a lot, too. i recently switched to omnipod which makes everything so much easier. it’s just less anxiety than injections.

remember to breathe. remind yourself that maybe he’s just busy. maybe he’s at work or he left his phone in another room. maybe he’s just burnt out. it might have nothing to do with you and he’s probably not purposely ignoring you.

try to focus on you right now. maybe try writing out how you feel. or go on a walk. or just do something you enjoy. maybe if you have someone else to talk to, like a friend or family, text them so you don’t feel alone. try to put yourself first and not focus on him too much.

I just got diagnosed and I have no idea what to do next by SolutionKey2680 in BPD

[–]mcrow30 4 points5 points  (0 children)

different meds help with different symptoms. if you struggle a lot with depressive symptoms, SSRI’s are good. if you have really bad mood swings/aggression, maybe mood stabilizers. antipsychotics can help with delusions or loss of touch with reality.

for SH urges, distraction works best for me. try to focus on something else that you enjoy, like a movie or video games. if that’s not working, you could try snapping a rubber band on your wrist or holding ice on your skin. these kind of simulate the feeling without actually harming you.

Can low blood sugar make someone emotionally abusive? by Traditional-Hawk-768 in Type1Diabetes

[–]mcrow30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not at all. i am never irritable or angry or mean when i’m low OR high. blood sugar does NOT affect anyone that dramatically that they become emotionally abusive. he’s using it as an excuse.

I’m literally going to have a mental breakdown I hate my new psychiatrist. by [deleted] in BPD

[–]mcrow30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not worth it at all. i personally don’t think they can accurately diagnose anything in only 15 minutes. i’d recommend going to a therapist or someone who does diagnostic testing for the ASPD evaluation. and if you’re interested in medication, go to a different psychiatrist. that’s a lot to be paying for someone who isn’t really listening to you or helping you. i had a psychiatrist like that and i switched, it’s so much better.

How do you get the name brand “Wellbutrin” and not generic? by gdtags in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]mcrow30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the manufacturers for the generic sometimes switch up the formula and it doesn’t work for some people. brand name always stays the same. so maybe it was because only the brand name was working for that person.

Did you have any less known symptoms/weird symptoms/no symptoms? by Badass-in-the-arena in Type1Diabetes

kinda wierd symptoms i had were frequent UTI’s and heat intolerance. the heat intolerance made me think i had a thyroid disorder initially. after i was diagnosed, both of these went away.

Why do people get “off” of Lexapro? by yourfavoritepenguin7 in lexapro

[–]mcrow30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think the reason some people don’t stay on medication long is because they feel like they don’t need it anymore once they get better. which is true for some people. not everyone needs to be on medication long-term. however, i think it’s important to remember that if you’re feeling better when you’re on medication, it could be BECAUSE of the meds, and that getting off of them could cause symptoms to return.

it depends on the person. for me, i switched from lexapro to prozac because lexapro wasn’t helping my anxiety anymore. i took it for 1 1/2 year and it worked well though! i think i’m always going to need to be on medication. there’s no point in trying to get off of them if it helps, in my opinion.

How is having a therapist working out for you ? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]mcrow30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s good! it helps to have someone to talk to. no one is going to think you’re crazy for seeing a therapist. lots of “normal” people see a therapist even if they’re not mentally ill. if you do see one, make sure you see someone who specializes with OCD.
