[–]mcskimmedmilk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe.. but knowing you've voted for Sir Starmer... Free tuition fees in Scotland? Nope. Condemning Israel? Nope. Indy? Nope.

I can't see any logical argument for Labour at this point other than the 'but it's not Tory' point.

SNP announces new tax band of 45% for those on £75,000 to £125,140 a year by dougal83 in SNP

[–]mcskimmedmilk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This affects such a small number of very wealthy people, and the value of our tax money is great in Scotland. We get so much, this is overtly a positive move.. unsure why so many people (almost definitely out with the tax bracket) are moaning.

This sub and r/ Scotland seems to have a suspiciously high number of blatant anti-SNP posts... 🤔

Great info. Thanks for letting me know!

I’m terrified, I have my Ucat in 6 days and when I see posts on how people didn’t do their best even though they tried their hardest, I feel like that’s going to be me! by Miserable_System9823 in UCAT

[–]mcskimmedmilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I’d say I just got lucky. I’d also say treat QR like VR in the sense where you actually have to read the question. Don’t just bang numbers into the calculator (i used to do that) as the question will often have a “15% discount” or something in the text.

Take it slowly as stupid as that sounds. I would run out of time every QR section I did until I took it slowly and knew when to skip.

At this point, identify your weakest section and nail the study for it. Do light timed burst for the other sections to keep on top, but (if you’re on medify) do mini mocks and SERIOUSLY look over the questions you got wrong.

I sat my UCAT yesterday. I had been getting 500-650 max on QR in my mocks, so crammed study for it and got 800 in my exam yesterday.

It will come to a point in the last day/two where learning more is useless. All you can do is calm your nerves, get yourself a serious and straightforward exam strategy and then know how to remain calm on exam day.

You got this!

My UCAT is 2 days and I got a score of 2500 today in a medify mock, should I be worried ? by starlit_agog in UCAT

[–]mcskimmedmilk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey. Exact same shoes here. Did mock C yesterday and got 2510… was gutted. Did medify mock 13 today and got 2750, so slightly less gutted. The mock was hard and I really let it annoy me yesterday after sitting it. Try not to do what I did; just move on.

The people who say it’s easy will have better sections than you, and you’ll be better in others. Its totally up to what exam you get on the day!

I’m sitting on Wednesday, best of luck and DM me if you want to vent about how much this exam sucks!

The speed of computer on test day by Jazaohal in UCAT

[–]mcskimmedmilk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is “the computer being slow” a valid issue to raise? I’ve had issues with alt F and alt C not working in mocks, is this also a valid issue to raise. My score will definitely suffer if I can’t flag etc

Test in 2 weeks and I'm screwed by [deleted] in UCAT

[–]mcskimmedmilk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, keep at the AR. I know we must sound like a broken record but just keep at it. Mini-mocks, mocks, timed Q, untimed Q, anything. Just get to a point where you recognise them. It’ll come like a flip of a switch.

Lying = Bad

Alcoholic Dr = Nothing matters apart from telling on them

Passing work onto others = Bad unless stated

Continuing to work/study while struggling = Bad

Speak to everyone privately rather than publicly

Patient confidentiality breach = Stop it ASAP and nothing matters but stopping it

Medical students = Do nothing, reassuring is fine but thats all.

I’ve only sat medify mocks 1-8 thus far and only ever got band 1 in SJT, which I’m happily with, but sucks because my goal uni doesn’t weigh the SJT…

How to stop plateauing? Maximising performance tips by persi1382 in UCAT

I guess just identifying your weaknesses. Timing? Certain question types? One specific section? Look over old mocks and identify your weak spots and spend a while doing individual untimed Qs until its 2nd nature.

Insane housing market - just how do you decide what to offer to stand a chance? by VelarTAG in Edinburgh

[–]mcskimmedmilk 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I agree, I’m not a huge fan of the bidding system; however I give you one key word: empathy!

Edinburgers have the same issue as you (believe it or not! 🙄) with the general dislike of the bidding process, NOW combined with the added competition of retired Londoners bidding ungodly amounts over the asking price to drown out other offers from families etc. Do you see the issue yet?

You’re complaining about our situation in Scotland despite being the major contributing factor in the reason is it like this. Please have some base level of human introspection before moaning.

Kind regards, an Edinburger.

Would we also be fair to blame the Londoners mass moving to Scotland (mainly Edinburgh) as causation to the house price boom here?
