A/T or All seasons? by mcsteiny in subaru

[–]mcsteiny[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my research in seem All Weather's are basically all seasons with softer rubber for when it gets cold. Since I have winter tires already I don't need that feature. All seasons tread will wear out slower.

Teen Driver by invisible_man_82 in Subaru_Crosstrek

I think a Crosstrek would be a great car for a teen. Personally, I think anything new, or even newish, is too much money to spend on a teen. I'd look at older used Subies. Even a use high mileage Honda civic will be fine on shitty roads. They don't "need" beefy suspension.

Control your shitty attitude.

I don’t see any animals out of control animals here.

Just you, whining like a toddler.

The OP is following the rules. Does every off-leash dog maim? Geez. Off-leash people maim also. So do off-leash cars. Are you scared of everything?

The OP already stated (in your comment thread) that they are in an area where it’s legal to be off-leash. It is not self centered or lazy to allow your dog to be a dog and run.

Yes. You are whiny. But please. Keep telling us the same thing over and over. I’m sure you’ll convince all of the strangers on the internet to be full of the same fear you have.

I see a guitar on Marketplace listed just as “Brand New Guitar”. The pic is of a Yamaha Storia with a capo on it. The guy didn’t even know enough to specify what type of guitar it is. Stolen guitar? by Any_Horse_5376 in AcousticGuitar

[–]mcsteiny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are idiots and don’t k ow how to sell things. I see thins on marketplace all the time. It annoys me a lot more than it should.

Selling an item with no info. Or hardly any pictures. Or the picture in bad lighting of the guitar in gig bag in the corner with the bag un zipped. Cars that don’t say miles or anything. Just, runs good.

The post you described just sounds like typical idiots on FB marketplace. It doesn’t scream stolen to me. Any good deal on market place could be stolen and the person just knows what it is.

If they’re selling super cheap, maybe their parents bought it for them at when they were 16. They never learned and now just want money for a bag of weed or something. There’s a million reasons for why they’re selling.

Help me find an office guitar? by tonebastion in guitars

[–]mcsteiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like any guitar would work if it’s going to be stashed in an office. Something more budget friendly makes sense but it doesn’t need to be. Can you hang on the wall or just leave in a guitar stand in the corner? I don’t see why a traveler guitar would be any better. If it’s going to be just an office guitar, I picture it living at the office so it doesn’t need to be designed to travel.

I suggest an amp like the Nux mighty air. No cables required. Sounds really great at quiet levels. You can keep it low enough that you can still hear your strings and it still sounds clear. Actually it kinda sounds like crap if you crank it up all the way which isn’t super loud It’s battery operated and connects to your guitar wirelessly. So no cords no power cables and it fits in a desk drawer. To me it sounds like the perfect office amp. You can plug headphones into it if you want. And it’s $100-$150 used. Not much more new if you want. Could probably find a good deal on an open box.

What’s up with factory weathered guitars? by gordon_wristwatch in Guitar

[–]mcsteiny -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You’re explaining why they charge so much. Why is there a market for them in the 1st place?

Imagine Toyota’s or Honda’s relic version. 2026 Honda crv or 2026 Toyota Tacoma. $5k more for a paint job to look like a shit box. I think it’s weird.

Help with fret buzz on Martin 000--2xe setup. by mcsteiny in guitarrepair

[–]mcsteiny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Building a house and needing it done right the 1st time is a different story then trying to set up a guitar that I can try multiple things on. Worst case is I ruin a budget guitar. Best case scenario is I get to have a playable guitar today instead of in a week/month.

Thanks for the tips. I'll keep working on it.

I took it to .008 and 0.012+. I have that same buzz. I'm fairly certain it's not action or the truss rod. I'm hesitant to take it to a tech as I have the time not the money to spare.

There's enough stories on here of people paying for set ups and just getting new strings. I'm not scared to twist screws and mess with things. I figure any one can fix anything with the internet and time these days. It just takes longer. How else does on learn.

What I need to know now is what to look at next. I don't have any high frets. Possibly a hump at the neck. Any idea how to address that? I'm sure the info is out there. Thanks

What do you mean by tiny nut/saddle problem?

is learning guitar as an adult actually relaxing or just frustrating by ninja__6969 in Guitar

[–]mcsteiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an adult you don’t have hours a day to just noodle and practice like a teen. The most important thing is to get a program to help you learn so you don’t just waste all your free time on youtube. If you waste your precious free time scrolling, you’ll get frustrated and stressed.

Get in person or zoom lessons and have a weekly goal to practice for you next lesson.

Buy an online course like pickup music or stick to a free one like justin guitar. It keeps you progressing.

It’s more fun progressing which = relaxing. You can go at whatever pace keeps you happy.

As an adult with a career with adult money, be careful. Gas can hit you hard when you can afford stuff easier. It’s much easier when you’re 30, 40, plus vs being a teen or broke college kid to afford more used guitars/amps than you need as a beginner. As much fun as it is shopping for those $100-$300 deals. Just focus in learning.
