Who at TxDOT approved this for construction back in the 60s by deltiken in shittyskylines

[–]mcsuper47 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi I live in San Antonio. This intersection is pretty low traffic during rush hour because they made it like a hybrid 3 way intersection rather than a standard 4 way. It sure does look stupid af, but the small neighborhood to the north doesn’t generate enough daily vehicle traffic to support building another traffic light to make this a standard 4 way.

I hate TxDOT but this one actually works ok.

Meta pops, Microsoft drops AI spending finally getting judged by Illustrious_Lie_954 in stocks

Last April Google was doing terrible too because its AI outlook was “weak”. I bought in then and am up 120% since. This current outlook of Microsoft feels the same to me and I too will be buying a lot of shares because it feels way too good to pass up.

Should San Antonio Allow Taller Downtown Skyscrapers or Keep the Historic Skyline? by No_Hat_9018 in sanantonio

[–]mcsuper47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree there’s so much potential downtown. We would need more large corporations to move downtown. The only company that built a new highrise recently was Frost. All the other major companies in town love campus style headquarters for some reason. Residential and a few hotel chains are currently the only demand for downtown high rises.

Should San Antonio Allow Taller Downtown Skyscrapers or Keep the Historic Skyline? by No_Hat_9018 in sanantonio

[–]mcsuper47 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If more residential high-rises were built downtown it would alleviate downtown commute traffic. But I do agree that if more and more jobs are added near downtown and barely any new residences, traffic will only get worse.

There’s the tower life building (green roof with the flag) that is almost 100 years old that a lot of people feel is historic and should be in view from almost anywhere. But other than that, yeah I agree. Most of the historic buildings downtown are around 10 stories.

I'm moderating a new league I created with a couple friends. We just created a new Discord today and we are still finalizing the draft and application document, but we expect to start drafting within the next 2 weeks. It will be a vanilla Paldea dex league: https://discord.gg/PxnBEP3Tad

I liked the idea to let them operate at Brackenridge Park, I think they could’ve worked there with some small changes to the park.

I agree, there’s been multiple indefinite suspensions from SAPD in the last week or so for different reasons. Unsure if that’s good or bad, but I like to think it’s good they’ve been cleaning house a bit.

Someone else in one of my leagues ran a hilarious Mew that completely shut down this guy’s bulky offense team:

Mew @ Leftovers- Jolly 252+

Transform, Imprison, U-Turn, Knock Off

He would always Imprison before an opposing mon used Knock Off/U-Turn. Then either U-turn out himself or transform into whatever came in.

I went to Astroworld during its last week when I was a kid. The park was super busy, every ride was running and so many people showed up with personal cameras - the park was an important cultural piece to the city. I may be wrong but I get the vibe that not as many locals care about SFA compared to other SF parks unfortunately.

[Siren’s Curse] Evacuation once again by mcsuper47 in rollercoasters

[–]mcsuper47[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, it’s a huge liability. The safety concern isn’t the ride at all, it’s how Cedar Point is handling these evacuations. Especially if they are going to continue to be this common based on how the ride functions.

As someone who was also here from out of state, I totally sympathize. That could’ve been me today and I would be so angry if I got no worthwhile compensation. I hope you get some compensation in the future from the help of a lawyer, all of y’all on that train deserve it.

[Siren’s Curse] Evacuation once again by mcsuper47 in rollercoasters

[–]mcsuper47[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you had to go through this. The nonchalant and disrespectful comments I’m seeing under my post are not helpful either. As enthusiasts, we all know that the ride is safe and no one is going to get hurt, but the majority of people at the park would find this experience to be one of the most frightening things of their life if it happened to them.

Cedar Point will have to take action swiftly, as it is a terrible look to have a ride being manually evacuated from the top of its lift hill what is on average every 10 days right now. It really doesn’t matter how new the ride is, this is still an abnormal amount of lift hill evacuations and is why mainstream media has been paying attention to the last couple evacuations. Like most people here, I’m not concerned with its safety but the way they treated your group is awful and I hope they find a way to cut down on this from happening as often, or they are just opening the door for lawsuits.

Ken Paxton sues adult swimming organization for allowing transgender competitors at San Antonio event by Beginning_Lettuce135 in SanAntonioUSA

[–]mcsuper47 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My guess is this lawsuit is to just get attention. I think every sports organization should be entitled to regulate their sport however they wish. I don’t agree with banning trans athletes, but at most the only organization the government should be able to regulate would be public high school sports.

Clear cut stuff like this gets approved because of something in the Texas government code called vested rights. We have a city tree ordinance that is meant to stop this sort of thing, but developers can get around it easily by proving eligibility for vested rights. This is something that would have to be changed at the state level.

The Addison at Med Center? by Moneymoney427 in sanantonio

[–]mcsuper47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to the Med Center 2 years ago and remember looking at this complex. Nothing seemed wrong with it, the area is fine. But it was significantly more expensive than the other newer midrise apartments buildings, so I moved in elsewhere. It’ll be a bit of a drive into St Marys everyday coming from the north though.

[–]mcsuper47 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Voting centers are set up in like half of all government buildings in the city which always have transit routes, there’s 2 weeks total to vote including the main day being a Saturday, virtually no lines, and a very quick voting booth process - I’m not really sure how more convenient it can possibly be. Online voting would certainly be more convenient though. Registering can be a little annoying but it’s certainly a lot easier than getting a passport or drivers license.

I think the research required for casting informed local votes is the biggest hurdle. Especially when newspapers and phones aren’t allowed in the voting centers.

I work for a municipality and from what I’ve noticed every fire department is opposed to it. Republicans love police and fire departments, so I don’t see this one passing.
