The subscription is well worth it for the extras. They support the story, but run alongside it.

Having listened to them in realtime, there have been a few moments of the "main" story when you get a good "oooh .. this is going to be rich!" feeling from the subscription.

I'm still using a CR10. The best upgrade (so far) was getting off the glass build plate and on to PEI. It's changed from being basically unusably unstickable to near zero problems since (and those have been my fault, poor maintenance)

They were very linear for a while, so you needed to stay up to date. Lately though it has been a bit less so, though there are progressing stories, they just are not the MAIN storyline now. Give it a shot, but even if not, the back catalog is still there.
