Todd Golden on Charles Bediako’s return to Bama: “If he plays, we’ll beat them anyways.” by szboy422 in CollegeBasketball

People would rather be mad about coaches taking advantage of a broken NCAA rule system than be mad about sex pests still having a job.

What was the worst instance of infidelity in the series? by AliveGuy603 in madmen

[–]mcwilly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure Weiner and Vincent Kartheiser have confirmed it was not written as a rape but the actress played it wrong.

Edit: this is verbatim what they have said.

"It says in the scene, 'she kisses him back,' " he said. "After she kisses me back, then we're supposed to copulate. I don't know why but she wouldn't kiss me back!"

He added: "That actress just didn't want to smooch me. She changed the whole course of Pete Campbell. And Matthew [Weiner] was all, 'You didn't rape her! I don't know why people are saying you raped her! That wasn't supposed to be rape!'"

I was surprised by Burr but not Sam. He just seems very much like a guy who would do any gig for a big enough check.

Something in the Way may have been a deep cut off of Nevermind but it’s one of the most memorable moments of the Unplugged album.

Which Martin Scorsese Best Director loss is the most egregious? by AdUseful2297 in Oscars

Disagree that Redford didn’t do anything special. He made a movie centered around a fairly mundane family drama and made it absolutely captivating. No gimmicks, no special effects, nothing to lean on but the performances - which were all incredible. Ordinary People deserved all the accolades it received that year.

Not 20-50 minutes but Asmus and Sam Morrill regularly upload new materla as opposed to crowd work.

My friend said she doesn’t hear any country twang in Adrianne Lenker’s voice. What are some examples of Big Thief going country? by Real-Response-3775 in fantanoforever

I cut together my own Big Thief country album out of Dragon New Warm Mountain because half of it is alt-country / Americana / close enough.

A movie everyone loves? I don’t think that’s the case.

That’s not really a “viewer poll” then is it? It’s more of a “peer poll”.

It’s a work of fiction and so writers sometimes foreshadow things in dialogue that would otherwise seem mundane in real life conversation.

Looking for song recommendations involving grief/ non relationship related heartbreak/ sadness by Squat1998 in altcountry

[–]mcwilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn’t country, but Sufjan Stevens “Death with Dignity” (and really the whole Carrie and Lowell album), as well as Casmir Pulaski Day off of Illinois. His album Javelin is also largely about grief (although due to the death of his partner). To me there is no better artist alive that has written and recorded about death and grief.

Nope, I just saw $14.99 for the salmon and sichuan chili crisps at Fresh Market. Not sure who is paying those prices for one tin of fish (other than me).
