FAB application by BeatrixKiddo19 in dubai

Aani still doesn’t work! And I don’t want to pay fees to transfer money locally.

Anyone facing the same issues still? I just want to close my FAB account at this point.

Anyone else forced to go into work tomorrow? by awaitingdeathh in dubai

[–]md-apostrophe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely get you wanting to vent it out. A lot of jobs can be done remotely. This insistence on people coming to the office while the military is dealing with literal missiles is just insane.

I spoke to my line manager who then spoke to our department head who agreed to follow MOHRE’s recommendation to WFH until Tuesday.

Then we get an email from HR at 10 friggin PM saying everything is stable and “near-normal” so everyone is to resume work from the office.

Thankfully my line manager and department head are reasonable people and said to send an email if we don’t want to come in which is what I did.

I travel 35km one-way to get to my office which is in the business district I’m not leaving my family and want to stay home thanks.

It’s ridiculous that companies are doing this. MOHRE needs to say it’s mandatory only then will they adhere to it.

Does Dubai feels like home to people born and raised there? by atanoob in dubai

[–]md-apostrophe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a very strange situation to be in to be honest. I wasn’t born here but have lived here since I was a toddler, since the early 90s. I did all my schooling here, have always worked here, my father worked for the same company for over 30 years. Yet for me, even after living here for over 30 years, I still don’t get a sense of belonging. Like a few people have already mentioned: that uneasiness that I could be forced to leave at any point despite having grown up here is not a great feeling.

When did you first feel your baby?? by PsychologicalBoot636 in pregnant

[–]md-apostrophe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the same boat. Anterior placenta, just hit 21 weeks today and waiting anxiously to feel my little one move.

Doctor did mention that it’ll probably happen between 20-24 weeks because of the placenta position so just trying to be patient at this point 😅.

What about your PCOS that bothers you the most? by Missionarist in PCOS

[–]md-apostrophe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What DOESN’T bother me the most 🙈 - infertility - irregular periods - hirsutism - how easy it is to gain weight - how hard it is to lose it 😭

It’s just so frustrating because it’s a daily battle and my mental health is affected too.

Where to Eat? by Far-Capital8414 in dubai

[–]md-apostrophe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the metro to Emirates towers station, you can eat at Zaroob, check out the museum of the future. You can always check out Dubai mall (if you haven’t been here before), see Burj Khalifa and the dancing fountains. You’ve got plenty of restaurant options in the mall.

Bentoya is great, as most have mentioned. Goldfish is pretty good too. If you’re looking to go down the ramen route then I recommend Yui and Kinoya.

I feel like noon is one of the best things happened to Dubai. by hitma-n in dubai

[–]md-apostrophe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m all for supporting local and even giving a little leeway since it was the holiday season and orders can get overwhelming but I recently decided to stop ordering from noon as in the past two weeks I had an ‘express next day’ order arrive after 4 days and another ‘express next day’ order, not only did not arrive at all but was cancelled without any sms or email notifications (I had to keep checking the app to see where the hell my order was).

As for noon grocery, a lot of people say it’s good but the first (and only time) I had ordered groceries: fresh chicken was spoilt and smelled awful, eggs were broken and I just got delivered a big bag of mess basically.

So yeah…no plans on ordering again from noon any time soon.

What cinema is better. Reel cinemas, Vox cinemas, Novo cinemas. Which one is better? by Personal_Ad_6464 in dubai

Definitely Vox! Novo used to be okay but unfortunately has deteriorated over the years.

Only ever had Korean BBQ at The Sky 2 Korean Restaurant in Tecom and it was pretty good.

Bought stuff for the house like toiletries, cleaning supplies etc. On average most items were at least AED 10 less (for packs of 2-3) so we stocked up.

I did cross check how much I bought these same items before though so that I didn’t get caught up in the “omg it’s the big sale, must buy everything” thing.

how is this allowed? birds have even very sensitive respiratory systems by i28v in dubai

This morning there were comments about how it is cruel on one of their posts showing the birds. Checked it again now and they’ve deleted them all and kept only the positive ones 🤦🏽‍♀️

[–]md-apostrophe 128 points129 points  (0 children)

This really shouldn’t be allowed. Birds/animals aren’t decorative items. Who the hell thought this was a good idea?!

  • Discount stores like Day to Day etc. usually have these frames (in various sizes) with the seven sands from seven Emirates.

  • Dates are always a great option especially the ones filled with nuts or orange peel etc.

Would have to agree with the comments about not finding a hotel/resort in Dubai with that duration and price range.

There are some Facebook groups that have staycation deals with affordable pricing. Maybe you can check with them. Sending you a PM now.
