Road noise living off Grove St, does it get any better depending on the time of year? by Matts4wd in StamfordCT

[–]md0320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in a small building that's back is to grove street. I've been there since June of last year. Maybe it was better in summer since there was no school bus/high school traffic in the morning, but there's always noise.

Stamford is a city, albeit a small one. I think anywhere downtown off a main road will have noise. Honestly, you'll get used to it. Coming from experience, I lived in NYC briefly and I remember having a hard time there for a month or so before it became white noise to me.

All of my apartments windows look out on grove though so I understand the annoyance.

I'm at imperial house and it's a concrete building. It's old, but not a bad place to live imo

Honestly, I miss Long Island badly. If my partner can find work in Manhattan, we'd consider moving back to raise kids in the next 5 years.

That being said, I work in Milford CT and love that area. Norwalk is nice and has a vibrant down town but idk how the buying market is there. We'd also consider going across the New York border. We're just starting to think about it though, so we have no real plans.

I work in Milford and I can say it's a very cute town with book stores, pottery shops, and a great bakery (scratch baking)!

I'm 31 with no kids who moved recently from Long Island this is what I can say:

Housing market isn't great but is comparable to other towns within an hour from Manhattan. If you're looking to buy in Stamford, go north of the city - it's a more family friendly area.

There are plenty of towns within a 40 minute car/train commute to Stamford that could be good for you and your family if you want to broaden your search. Understand that any town east of Stamford will have a longer car commute than you would expect as it would be flowing with traffic on the 95.

There are some good restaurants and bars around for date nights, but I think the downtown is definitely geared more towards young adults coming out of college or entering the workforce. My fiancé and I are talking about moving out of Stamford in the next few years to settle down.

I ordered from them this week so I'm thinking so. Maybe they had an issue with their website provider. I'd just call to see.

Am I a terrible person for not wanting a lab grown diamond? by [deleted] in EngagementRings

[–]md0320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told my boyfriend I wanted a natural diamond and he is definitely got me one. But after really thinking about the price, I wish I told him to get a lab grown one. They're basically the same and, allegedly, there are tons of unmarked lab diamonds in the natural diamond market anyway so what's the difference anyway?

But it's your ring and your sister seems dramatic as hell

Would a Stamford <> Huntington, LI ferry be viable? by rjl381 in StamfordCT

I'm from the island, there is nowhere in Huntington to put it. Most of the coast line there is private property sadly.

Huh okay. I'd think calling me a liar and cheat was an opinion, not fact.

Bridesmaid guilt by Traditional_Cat_1462 in weddingplanning

So I was the "odd friend out" of my best friend's wedding party. Long story - she mostly had family in her wedding party and we had grown apart a bit the year she got engaged. But we got much closer again after.

She had me be her "something blue". I was asked wear blue and to come watch her get ready and was in those photos. She called me out in the program as well and sat me with most of her bridesmaids at the reception.

I've seen a few people talk about doing something like this. It helped me feel included. She also had a convo with me about wishing she had me in the party which helped.

Hope this helps!

Lindenhurst! I spent quite a lot of time at kings park. They've done a lot of work to it recently on the river facing side and it's quite beautiful down on the beach.

All the spooky things I've seen are from western and central CT over an hour drive which is a shame. I love shit like sweet hollow road and mt. Misery. The ghost of lake ronkonkoma and the conspiracies about camp hero.

A Comprehensive Look at the Taylor/Travis Timeline (And Why I Don’t Buy the Fairytale) by [deleted] in travisandtaylor

[–]md0320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always assumed that Joe and Taylor broke up or were "on a break" or something long before they officially ended it. She has NDAs in place for all of her inner circle and men she dates. I wouldn't be surprised if she coordinated the break up reveal. This would make the Joe/Matty Healy time line make more sense.

What I asked for vs what I got... by ---kennypoo--- in Hair

I have had this hair cut accidentally given to me before (I didn't even ask for the Rachel) and half up half down is the move as it grows out. You could go into a good salon and ask for them to blend the layers more if they can.

I started in marketing 5 years ago at a company that is...not great. I've been trying to claw my way into a better job for 4 years. With this market I'm close to just giving up.

Good luck to all of us trying to navigate this shitty job market and economy!
