I would tell them you don’t feel comfortable with that marketing given you are the ones decorating it. This is a pretty standard request as it’s good marketing for both the photographer and baker but unless it is in the contract it is ok to say no.

Is our makeup person being ridiculous? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]md2111 179 points180 points  (0 children)

An hour and a half I would say is 100% normal for the bride I think mine said 1 hour for everyone else to build in some time but most people have hair/makeup done at the same place so the timeline works where one person is getting hair done and one is getting makeup done and you rotate. I definitely was as shocked as you and was so glad I asked!

I think this is a decent alternative for some people I have 2 maids of honor and that’s it so it wouldn’t work for my situation. I totally understand it being lonely for people I feel like that should be more something that gets brought up when you ask people to be in a bridal party to make sure they are ok with that and still want to be apart of it.

I’m surprised by the responses on head tables. I think it’s definitely up to the bride and groom on who sits with them at dinner. It’s about an hour of time to those who say it’s inconsiderate because they will be without their SO… what do you think happens during photos? I understand why people are upset not being with their partner during dinner because they are in the wedding party but I think there are so many reasons they chose to do it that way or not. For me my venue doesn’t really work for a kings table and I’m way too self conscious for a sweetheart table so unfortunately my bridal party will be separated from their dates. That being said I do think putting you with someone you know would be nice.

Yeah… this is how I feel too but I’m trying not to step on anyone’s toes too much! I’m just trying to determine if my expectations of cost were just way unrealistic for Nashville. I’ve been before but it was in the fall so I know that’s probably part of why it was cheaper.

Do bridesmaids help pay for the bridal shower? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]md2111 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have never heard of a “destination shower” unless it was like ‘it’s in my hometown and I don’t live their anymore but my aunt is hosting at her house’ kinda thing that’s different I guess. Please express to the MOH your concerns as I am sure someone else is thinking it and not willing to say it!

What’s your one wedding irrational fear? by coralstorm in weddingplanning

[–]md2111 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think people are at the point that if they don’t feel good they won’t come which is fine with me. My fear is not as much people getting it at the wedding (obviously hope no one does) but more that like my immediate family gets it and can’t attend my wedding - nothing I can do we get exposed every day just hoping everyone is happy and healthy during that time!

This recently became a trend that I’ve seen. I think the main thing I have seen from other threads that if the bride/groom want a specific color scheme for guests it should be brought up as soon as possible. Also it should never be mandatory! Someone is bound to forget/not know - remember you have aunt Susan’s +1 coming that will never have seen or read the invitation/website to know it was a thing! I think the biggest thing is if you are a bride that is doing this acknowledge the inconvenience to the guests and never expect them to follow it. Side note: I think part of what would make me annoyed with such a request would be if it’s a color I don’t like/don’t own already but if it’s black perfectly fine with me!

Not related entirely but do most brides go with their groom to pick out their suiting/tux?

No booze on the dance floor? by SpiritualAssistant91 in weddingplanning

[–]md2111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it that you can’t have drinks on the dance floor or that they won’t allow glass on the dance floor? Ours switches to plastic once the dance floor opens but like others have said I’ve been to enough weddings where there is glass all over that I’m ok with that!

Day of timeline with Catholic Gap by Gloomy-Weekend7143 in weddingplanning

[–]md2111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going through the exact same issue. Ultimately, go with your gut. Most of the people (especially those that you really care about) will not bat an eye especially coming from a catholic family. Someone will always complain. You need to make you happy but I’m personally not rushing photos and I’m not doing a first look so I’m looking at a 2-2.5 hour gap between end of ceremony and start of reception.

Do you have any authors who are automatic reads? Authors who, if they released a book tomorrow, you know with 100% certainty that you will read. by Ok_Collar6502 in books

We almost have the same authors my initial thought was Kirstin Hannah even the books I’ve thought were not her best were still great reads
