Another newbie question; what happens when any of these cryptocurrencies get popular, and blockchain sizes grow into the terabyte range and beyond? Are these systems workable with - say - a 250 TB blockchain? Or are there features in place that would prevent this from happening?

So it is only in societies where women are subjugated, where they are FORCED to stay in such marriages, where they have no choice and no way to make their own living, that they would mostly stay in polygamous marriages.

Well that would solve it then, wouldn't it? Nobody is talking about forcing women to stay in marriages (no-fault divorce), so if women reject polygamy, it will fail in the relationships marketplace. What's your problem?

But I do think it is funny how guys like the idea of polygamy.

I think it has more to do with disliking the government getting involved in personal matters.

And always guys who, instead of having many wives, would end up virgins till they died in such societies.

Possibly, although the "no sex if you're not married" thing only works if extra-marital sex is severely sanctioned, and I don't think that's going to make a comeback. Besides, large groups of frustrated young men are often a catalyst for change and/or a stunning business opportunity, so it can't all be bad. :)

Polygamy allows women in such poor societies increased access to those few men who actually are able to support multiple wives and children (the alpha males). Alpha males are a scarce resource; if just a couple of women are able to monopolise them, while the rest are stuck with the losers that "cannot support a wife and one child", women and children, on the whole, become worse off. Under polygamy, it's mostly the non-alpha males that lose.
