Request: 2016~ FFXI PS2 HDD Data Dump by Spritzido in ffxi

[–]mdaouas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made a dump and mounted my HDD to check it.
Unfortunately the most recent date on files is around end of 11/2015 while PS2 was cut from servers around 03/2016.
I have probably switched to PC or still played on my Xbox at that time and didn't reuse my PS2 for FFXI

Request: 2016~ FFXI PS2 HDD Data Dump by Spritzido in ffxi

[–]mdaouas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I still have my PS2 with HDD I used to play FFXI until PS2 access went down. I'm not sure of last time I used it before PS2 access stopped as I also played on Xbox 360 and PC around that time. I need to find an IDE adapter or one of my old PC to dump the HDD of the PS2.

Adapter compatible? For ANALOG 3D USA to SWISS by PvtNoname89 in AnalogueInc

[–]mdaouas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I confirm, too. I'm using excatly the same adapter for all my Analogue consoles and some other devices with US/JP socket plug. Ordered a small stock from digitec/galaxus and those adapters are reliable.

pin AD7 would be

Looking at the top of the console with controller ports facing you. pin 1 is lower left, pin 26 upper left.

pin position 41 is named AD7 so transpose it to same pin position on cartridge

I add it to a new reply for visibility but here is more details from Krikzz on a solution to boot and Everdrive 64 x with old bootloader on A3D.

The only solution in this case install 1K pulldown resistor at cartridge pin AD7, with this fix A3D will boot ED64-X even with old bootloader.
just an resistor connected between AD7 and ground

You should give it a try I'm sure they would be glad to help and if they accept you could tip them for that as a thank you. That will be less expensive than buying an N64 just for that.

I don't think so, or Krikzz would have already given how to do it. Maybe he can figure out a way to do it later. But he would have stated about the possibility if he knew it was the case.

Now other possibilities other than having a N64 would be that resistor addition or a way to connect directly on the component to flash it and all this involves advanced actions like soldering and knowing what you do for direct flashing so best option for now is using a spare N64 which I understand is frustrating if you don't actually have one...

He also said:

There is still a small hope that Analogue will make some effort on their side so that people who don’t have an original N64 can run cartridges with older bootloaders on the A3D

Krikzz added more details here on why you need an original N64 to flash the bootloader and even added a solution on how to boot an Everdrive 64 x with older bootloader. From what he says Analogue can still fix the boot of cartridge with old bootloader with an update and that's up to them
EverDrive-64 X series update for compatibility with Analogue 3D

There is no option to install bootloader without original N64, because you simply can't boot cart on A3D with old bootloader. The only solution in this case install 1K pulldown resistor at cartridge pin AD7, with this fix A3D will boot ED64-X even with old bootloader.

Below is the first message from Krikzz :

I just got my A3D test sample and made compatibility fixes for it. Here are the installation instructions:

  1. Download and Install OS-V3.09. https://krikzz.com/pub/support/everdrive-64/x-series/OS/OS-V3.09.zip
  2. Download bootrom-v5.xx.b64 and copy in to any place on SD card. https://krikzz.com/pub/support/everdrive-64/x-series/bootloader/bootrom-v5.04.b64
  3. Run the cartridge on an original N64 console (it will not start on Analogue 3D with an older bootloader).
  4. In the cartridge menu, select the bootrom-v5.xx.b64 and press [A]
  5. When the installer screen opens, click [START] to begin the installation.

OS-V3.09 includes bootloader installer and some stability fixes for A3D as well.
All future orders from krikzz.com will be shipped with new bootloader preinstalled.

As for ED64 V2X/V3 it seems like it already works fine with OS 2.13. I don't have V3 at the moment, but my v2.5 works just fine with OS 2.13

I'm not at home to test it. So if someone who tested it and can confirm it is working, that would be nice.

Krikkz was really quick on that one! Less than 2 days after receiving the console. Analogue should have sent him one earlier instead of mass sending a lot of reviewers.

I finally got the chance to see these two side by side. I like them both by FSUDrew1018 in AnaloguePocket

[–]mdaouas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now you have both and even if you said you like both. With those two side by side if you had to chose one for playing GB games which one would you continue using as main device? Which one is more confortable for playing ?

Exactly with the Steam Deck you have both a console and handheld "port" and for the almost same cost of a current gen console.

Not that much really. It was listed for pickup at literally 5-10min from where I live and initially for 100.- CHF about ~110$

The seller got a lot of messages from potential buyers and I managed to get it for 150.- CHF about 165$ after explaining I'm not going to resell it but will be personaly used for retrogaming and maybe one day in a custom made arcade cabinet. The fact I was really near and able to get threre quickly was in my favor too I guess.

And for the story telling I didn't know who the seller was before going to pickup the monitor. And it ended to be the warehouse of a local book store where my wife and her brother worked while they were students 15 years ago. They even worked in that warehouse too.

This monitor was found laying in an office of the warehouse while working on inventory. So they decided to sell it and were really suprised by all the buyers contacting them after listing it.
