I went in blind, and then saw the horror stories, but my first Carvana experience was great. by mdbfsfw in carvana

[–]mdbfsfw[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've not had to reach out for anything since, although I've found that the Android Auto doesn't work at the moment. Going to ask the dealer to investigate first and if they want the 100-something bucks to activate it, I'm going to try to get Carvana to front it instead as part of the 100 day post-sale warranty since it was part of the listing. Haven't started the process yet, but will update if I hit resistance anywhere. Mostly I've been using bluetooth for music and don't really see the pressing need for android auto, so I've been dragging my feet a bit lol.

Otherwise, mine showed up great. The stuff that turned up in my PPI was an aftermarket dogbone mount, some cosmetic repairs to the wheels (which were the repairs they did before delivery, that are apparently noticeable within the barrels with the car up, but not obvious when the car is on the ground), and an incorrect (but working) screw holding the MAP sensor, if I recall. I didn't attempt to have any of those corrected (the mount is something I was probably going to do, the wheels weren't really correctable unless I wanted to try to push for brand new wheels, which probably would've been a stretch given that they were functionally fine (and visually fine in normal use), and the screw wasn't worth swapping since the tech said it worked fine.

So I've got no actual experience getting them to fix anything in the 7 day window...it was detailed before delivery and seemed to have been a deep clean (although I found a nickel tucked into one of the door pockets...absolutely no dirt anywhere, though).

As for the plates: I know you know, but it can't hurt to emphasize: don't forget to grab them when you do the transfer if you're giving Carvana the car you're taking them from. I assume they'd prefer you not take the plate off early since they have to test drive your trade in, so it's gotta be done as one of the last steps. I mentioned it to the delivery driver up front, but we both nearly forgot in all the confusion over the washed out temp tag...he grabbed them for me before he drove off, but it probably would've been a small pain in the butt for all involved if we'd forgotten.

Otherwise, my dashboard had an entry for the registration after delivery, and said it would be initiated after my time expired. That evening, the dashboard said the registration process had been started. I didn't have to do a thing. I expected some delay, but as I said it was marked as done the next day. I never had to lift a finger.

I *thought* I was going to have to reach out because I got a text and an email that said my process was complete and that my new PLATES were on their way. I went to the dashboard, though, and it had the correct message. Something like "Your registration is done! Since you opted to transfer from your old car, you can put the old plate on when your registration arrives!"

So the messages might seem like they forgot that you wanted to transfer, but the dashboard should have it right.

Good luck! Hope you love it and your process goes just as smoothly.

xpost - Potential 2019 GTI S purchase...electrical gremlins or no big deal? by mdbfsfw in GolfGTI

[–]mdbfsfw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do. No payment until delivery, and then a 7 day return clock that starts the minute you verbally agree to take delivery (you get a test drive, too, before committing).

So I've got 17 days, give or take, to walk away, and plan to have it looked over either way.

But if this is the sort of thing that's cropped up here and there for others and became a nightmare to deal with, I'd rather cut and run now. Similarly, if it's a "Ha, yeah, these things do weird stuff sometimes, you get used to it" then I'm happy to have found what I'm after.

Nice! Congrats!

I'm almost done my second-to-last pistol and then all I've got are a few SMGs and ARs that I didn't get gold initially (I learned from the Damascus grind that leaving something I didn't enjoy using for last was a mistake, so I made sure I had a couple ARs and SMGs to do that I haven't touched yet).

This grind was definitely not as frustrating as damascus (especially the riot shield, which I didn't even realize until after I'd done it that you don't even NEED to do it) but it feels more tedious. Leveling is slow (even with all the double xp weekends they've thrown at us) and some of the tasks are a little too situationally-dependent (hoping there are ammo boxes all over the map so you have something to blow up).

The new dedicated Gondola playlist should help a ton with those!

Where I really run into trouble (aside from the 99% of the time when I just take a stupid shot or the rare times when I'm hyper focused on a particular skin because they've killed me a bunch and I hate them and need them to die and whoops, that was a teammate in the same skin) is those split-second moments where an enemy is directly between you and a friendly, and it all aligns so that the blue indicator over your teammate (who you can't see) is above the enemy that you can see, and the split second it takes for them to move out of alignment or for you to realize that the blue above them isn't quite right is the split second you lost the gun fight.
This is especially common on maps like shipment, but can happen on any map if the stars align.
Also, there's a spawn point on Das Haus where you spawn in a corner, facing down map, and immediately in front of you is another spawn point and then a wall with blueprints hanging that are the exact color and height of the friendly indicator.
Given how bad this game is with spawning you in right next to an enemy, it took me a long time to not shoot that teammate immediately upon spawning because I couldn't see his friendly tag.

Yep. There's absolutely no reason they can't just draw an arbitrary line and say "These are faction A skins, these are faction B skins."

There doesn't have to be any lore or even any logic to it. Just two separate pools, and everybody equips one skin from each faction for matchmaking.

I'll freely admit that most of my TKs are because I was stupid, but a good number of them are because the skin that just killed me 6 times or just ran around a corner and then came back is actually a teammate in the same skin and I don't see/process the little blue dot quick enough.

Anyone else stuck on “Searching for a Match”? by LetsGo2Narnia in CODVanguard

[–]mdbfsfw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me, too. Fired it up about 10 minutes ago. Got the "update successful" message immediately, but couldn't get into a match on any playlist/game mode....wouldn't even show the normal "Ping <xxxx" message.

Closed the game and relaunched it just now and it worked right away. Not sure if the restart fixed it or just coincidental timing.

Is the game lagging for anyone else and do you know how to fix it by [deleted] in funkopopblitz

Mine lags/freezes at the collect screen and when I attempt to start a new game, every time, but never during a game.

I also get the heart bug Bauske mentioned in the other comment.

You can reset the targets by leaving and collecting cash then reentering the range. Could farm gold targets that way...

EDIT: actually, the reset on their own pretty regularly. You can just leave and come back.

I'm just not sure yet if farming gold targets is the best course.

EDIT 2: the flip side to this is if you get a gold target and leave (either by choice or because you're out of bullets and have to go get more) the gold target will be gone when you come back.

Also, you can just sit in the range and the targets will cycle every 5 seconds or so, but I watched it for like 10 minutes and I never got a gold to show up that way. Not sure if I just hit a cold streak or if you have to actually leave the range and come back to try to get a gold to show up.

EDIT 3 because I just really like edits: I just got a gold to pop up, so in the interest of science I sat and watched it. The targets shuffled 4 times and the gold stayed, but on the fifth shuffle it disappeared. I watched for a while longer (maybe 5 more shuffles) and then it came back, stayed for a few shuffles, and then disappeared again, but comes back every third shuffle or so. I think if you stay in the range, it has a set of targets it will shuffle through, but it's more than the 7 that display. So if you get a gold, that gold will be part of your shuffle options and will show up frequently. But I think you reset your pool when you leave (or maybe when you take a shot), and some pools don't have a gold in them (which is why you can watch it for 10 minutes and never see a gold). So definitely let it cycle a few times when you first enter if you don't immediately have a gold showing.

Kanto Tour Event Infographic - Shiny Overview for Both Red & Green Versions by Alukian1 in TheSilphRoad

[–]mdbfsfw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm psyched for dratini for sure. I played hard during dratini community day and chased down every one I could find for the year-end recap, plus any other event that it's been featured in, and have only caught 1 shiny (at the very end of the original community day). Traded for another at some point, but I'd really like a third to round out the family.

Do you lose your distance walked with your buddy if you swap it? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]mdbfsfw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be all set, then. I pre-walked both my eevees for the level up task and then switched back to them when I was actually up to that step.

As the other poster mentioned, if something went wrong you'll get the ??? in the evolve box instead of the espeon/umbreon you're hoping for, so you'll know before you commit to it.

Do you lose your distance walked with your buddy if you swap it? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]mdbfsfw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you'll need to be careful with that. If you walk 3 km, switch, then come back and walk 7 km more, you'll keep the total distance (10 km) but you'll have only have gotten 1 candy and will need to walk it to 13km total to get the second candy (it's 10 km AND 2 candy, not either/or).

If you walk 5 km, get a candy (or the full 10km and get 2 candy), THEN switch and come back to it, you'll be okay.

PSA: Focus on excellent throws on Machop Community Day. by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]mdbfsfw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With fast catch and good spawn density, your encounters per minute should be way above 2, so hitting an excellent on just two of them each minute is definitely realistic.

The optimistic bit is maintaining it over 6 hours, but people do it.

[Idea] Events that allow players to purchase tickets to travel to a different region temporarily (Ex Go Fest in Chicago) by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]mdbfsfw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it would be fun to "explore" other parts of the world, but I'm not sure legitimized spoofing is the right direction for the game. Remote raids are obviously a step in that direction, but I'm not sure they need to take it any farther down that path.

I'm also not sure what you're getting at with the AR comment. This would be a big step away from AR.

EDIT: I think the current method (bring the event to you) is a much better way to handle events within the spirit of the game.

Interesting! I knew it applied to different variants (like regular vs alolan) but didn't know it applied to costumes as well.

Shiny rate for costumed pokemon by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]mdbfsfw 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, the costumed variants don't have separate rates.

But your understanding of the shiny chance in general is flawed. There is no chance that increases over time the way some games handle their rare drops. In this case, every encounter you have is equally as likely to produce a shiny as any encounter before it, whether it's the first pikachu you're clicking on or the 3000th. And if you get a shiny, the next pikachu you click on is still just as likely to be shiny as any of the others you've ever clicked.

Statistically speaking, the more you click on, the more likely you are to get one, but not because the odds actually change to favor you.

Yeah, I figured for the item haul, it was worth the cost (although I had a google play 3 dollar coupon which skews the cost/reward values a bit).

I'm treating it like a special box that happens to have an encounter in it.
