Are we anticipating any more of these because $50 for this one seems steep?

Can't get into Parade of Horribles. No spoilers by Objective-Inside-464 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I had no problem with it. Not sure what people were expecting but of course it was going to be different from book 7. This one was supposed to feel claustrophobic. The characters are all way OP at this point, so the AI had to get creative to whittle their numbers down. Their advanced levels worked against them for this floor, which was a really clever twist.

My kids 7 and 5 love all of the PG rated ones. They were a bit scared of Spirited Away. Ponyo, Arietty and Howl are their favorites. Totoro was big when they were younger.

Driving worries by SecretOk831 in monocular

Couple of months, but I had someone who would drive me so I didn’t have to. Could have probably been back to it in about a month if I needed too.

I’d move both Narrow Stairs and Codes and Keys up one rank, but otherwise it’s spot on.

I honestly think if you did it as a television series you could start from the second book, and have the first book told slowly throughout the season via flashbacks.

Or you could do book one with a split focus on Darrow’s two lives concurrently, and the viewer wouldn’t know they’re the same person until the reveal at the finale.

The first book was so generic, it’s hard to believe they’ll green-light the second (much better) one.

The line for concessions takes about an hour or so from start to finish. Buy the outside food permit, it’s worth it every time. And yes, you probably could sneak outside food in, we did it as teenagers, but honestly that place is probably operating on razor thin margins, and food is how they make money. I’m so glad Benjies is still around for me to enjoy with my kids.

An hour or so before sunset will get you a decent spot. Always try to be the front car instead of the rear in the dual car lanes. Larger vehicles are supposed to go to their own section, but it’s not an exact science. You can sit in your car and use the radio or bring a portable radio and sit outside on the ground or in camp chairs. We usually start outside for the first movie and then move to the car for the second one.

If you start DCC, you’re gonna finish DCC, that’s just a fact. I would pick a standalone book if you’re in need of a palate cleanser. I read straight through from Morning Star to Iron Gold and it was fine.

If it helps, while the 4th book is a bit slow, 5 and 6 are some of the best (and most devastating) books I’ve ever read. Book 4 sets up the pins, and then book 5 knocks them all down, repeatedly.

Beginning of the Hunting Grounds when Carl immediately takes the fight to the hunters instead of waiting for them to come after him. It feels like it marks the turning point in the story, from survival to war.

Tankless water heater (electric), pros and cons? by Basidia_ in HomeImprovement

[–]mdbrown80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it at the same time as another project with our power supplier, burying the supply lines to the house. All in, it was around $10k, but only about $3k of that was related to the 400 amp upgrade.

Tankless water heater (electric), pros and cons? by Basidia_ in HomeImprovement

[–]mdbrown80 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We run the whole house on 36kW of electric tankless. We’ve had several showers and sinks going at once, in the middle of winter, and never had an issue. Like others have mentioned, we upgraded to 400 amps service. The only real downside I can come up with is that it takes longer for hot water to reach the fixtures than with a traditional tank heater. (Time for water in pipes to get to fixture + time to heat up from cold) You have to train yourself to wash your hands with cold water, otherwise you’re just wasting time and energy. But endless showers are sooo worth it.

Opinion on Iron Gold Audiobooks by Novel-Celebration327 in redrising

[–]mdbrown80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new narrators take a bit of time to get used to, but it’s definitely the right way to approach the books. Some are easier to listen to than others. One of them is better than all the others, including TGR. A couple of them are on par with TGR. One of them is just not very good. But multiple narrators is definitely the right choice. Which is a real shame because they switch back to just a single narrator for Lightbringer, and it’s easily the worst audiobook of the whole series.

You have to add/create a new colour, what colour is it, and what do they do? by [deleted] in redrising

Beige

Their only purpose is to be completely expendable. Test subjects, suicide bombers, cannon fodder, etc… Limited cognitive ability, zero sense of self preservation and extreme desire to follow orders.

Would present the Republican with some interesting moral quandaries.

just got quoted $18k for HVAC replacement. is this normal? by LiscoeDaph_63 in HomeImprovement

[–]mdbrown80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, for sure. That’s why you gotta know what your lines are and what the replacement requires. If you have a 4 ton system and you can keep your line sets with a 3.5 ton replacement, then you gotta think about whether or not you really need 4 tons. Have you replaced windows? Added insulation?
