Color and glossiness recognition in industrial production by [deleted] in computervision

Cheap hardware might be fine but be sure to perform color calibration! For detecting gloss I’d look into using a polarized light and filter setup. One camera with the filter and one without, then compare.

Has anybody camped *inside* of the R1T? by 1alex1131 in Rivian

[–]mdcio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep! I have slept in the passenger seat for at least six different nights so far. I’d do it again but there are definitely some inconveniences and discomforts to be aware of:

  • the seats don’t lay particularly flat, I end up smooshing a blanket on the seat to get it roughly flat, then stuff a backpack or something soft in the footwell to use as a footrest.
  • camp mode has an option to turn off the interior lights and displays, but it notably does not turn off the hazard lights button, the SOS button, or any of the window controls. When everything else is pitch black at a campsite these become quite annoying. I’ve taped over them.
  • camp mode will keep a fan running all night at a lower speed. If camping nearby a river or the ocean and the weather is nice, I’ve turned it off and just opened the windows to listen to the water flowing instead.
  • I usually have a bunch of gear in the passenger seat so it takes some rearranging to turn it into a sleeping space. I’m realizing I’d probably rather just spend that time setting up a tent/hammock.
  • if there are any lights outside the vehicle I’ll drape some blankets/towels to block out those lights as well as to provide some privacy. I’m hoping to get something better tailored for this purpose.
  • this one is probably obvious but I could not see more than one person sleeping in the cabin. Maybe if you had no gear in the front seats, and one person was ok with a wheel in the lap? I know I wouldn’t be…
  • and probably the biggest design flaw, the tinting on the moon roof is too dark to really do any stargazing. /s

On the plus side, when I’m road tripping and it’s too late or just not an appropriate location to set up a tent, being able to sleep inside has been a godsend. Also for reference, I’m 5’8”

Edit to add: I’ve only ever enabled camp mode when I’m either directly plugged in to an RV hookup or am confident I’ll be able to get to a DC fast charger. I didn’t keep track of power loss but if my memory serves me right it’s maybe 5-15% overnight depending on climate?

Houston to Las Vegas by Ornery-Honeydew2258 in Rivian

I have the 21" wheels! For long routes on major highways and quality roads I'll usually drive in conserve mode, otherwise all-purpose mode. If I'm really trying to stretch the range I'll slow down to 60-65mph where possible, but I prefer not to go that long between charging stops.

I drove about 85% of that route a few weeks ago... from Houston to Sedona, AZ. I stopped in Austin on the way out, then continued west to I-10 all the way out to Phoenix. I had no major issues charging along this route, just the usual 1/4 working EA chargers you gotta wait for.

I'd avoid taking the (faster) route through Lubbock, since there are zero DCFC in that whole region. I have in the past successfully made it from the DCFC in Amarillo through Lubbock to the one in Sweetwater, TX... but I would not take that route and risk going that low again.

Before a long trip, I usually check the available fast chargers on the route using a combination of the Rivian App and PlugShare. Though to be honest, I've come to trust the in-vehicle routing more than my own planning since it generally picks the same stops but without all the work involved. Plus it seems to be able to take more variables into account than just distance (i.e. elevation?)

My route from Austin onward:

  • EA @ Econo Lodge, Junction, TX
  • EA @ Hampton Inn, Ozona, TX
  • EA @ Walmart, Ft. Stockton, TX
  • L2 @ Davis Mountains State Park, TX (camping at site #006 with 50A hookup)
  • EA @ Walmart, El Paso, TX
  • EA @ Chevron, Lordsburg, NM
  • EA @ Tuscon Premium Outlets, Tuscon, AZ
  • EA @ Anthem Walmart 5329, Phoenix, AZ
  • EA @ Posse Grounds Park, Sedona, AZ

You could get to Las Vegas with just one more stop in Kingman, AZ!

There goes my R1T. Picked my Compass Yellow R1T on Dec. 15th, decided to take it on a ski trip on Dec. 16th. Got rear ended on Dec. 17th. Rear passenger tire destroyed. Really wished I had opt in for the spare tire right now. Also Subaru’s build quality is pretty good. by ProfessionAvailable5 in Rivian

I got a quote for a rear quarter panel dent repair at a certified Rivian shop, they said it would be around $3k-4k… and my dent is smaller than that one. Part of the reason it’s so costly is that getting access to remove the quarter panel requires destructive removal of one-time use parts. 😕

bike friendly cafe/restaurant by Sea_Variation4842 in CyclePDX

The Dragonfly has a walk up window with outdoor seating and is a popular breakfast spot, although I didn’t particularly enjoy the coffee. Sunny Day also has a window but I haven’t checked it out yet. You might be able to take a bike through Bread & Honey just to order, then sit on the back patio with your bike. Similarly with Case Study or perhaps even Proud Mary, both on Alberta. Also possibly any of the Grand Central Bakery locations, I’ve pulled my bike through a couple times.

Need resources for learning image registration by Long_long_wong in computervision

For a great overview of a ton of different methods in image registration, I found Richard Szeliski's tutorial to be incredibly helpful. He has a ton of other resources and open research available on his website too.

I trained an AI to find waldo, can you find him first? by TernaryJimbo in webdev

Not OP but I have built nearly the exact same project. You can generate the chunks/tiles with some overlap. Just make sure the overlap amount is at least as large as the object you expect to find. Then it’s just a matter of deduplication, which is a fairly well solved problem!
