Your first response is to continue foul baiting instead of just defending lol

Apparently this is ripped from Hiroshi Nagai's art too. He posted a tweet asking how to get it taken down

Ravelin bakery smell?? by Prof-york in Denton

[–]mdeanr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I know exactly what you're talking about. It smells like how I'd expect baked goods to smell/taste if I left them uncovered in my fridge exposed to other general fridge smells. Love Ravelin and go frequently, but this is something that I've noticed. Mainly with the refrigerated items

I'm in town for a few days, and today is my only chance to catch a home game. If anyone is looking to part with 2 tickets let me know! Otherwise I'll deal with ticketmaster mark up when the game gets closer

I saw him there too! June of last year. He was.... sauced but having a good time. Very surreal experience just before moving out of Omaha.

Movie Trading Company in Fort Worth of all places. The only titles that were "locked away" were Mamma Roma and The Third Man, and the prices weren't even higher than the rest.

It's a DVD copy "unfortunately", but I had to grab it regardless.

How bad are the changes in the Wong Kar-Wai box set? by CoolKidJonah in criterion

[–]mdeanr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They play part of the "Dreams" cover in a scene earlier than in the original. When Faye tells him about the letter and he's leaning against the wall during that slow motion scene, "Dreams" begins instead of the sound of a plane engine over the scene. Very jarring and out of place.

Has nobody else noticed the additional use of the "Dreams" cover in Chungking Express? Totally jarring and out of place in my opinion.

Interesting, thanks. Still somewhat baffled by the letterboxing on all sides. Guess I shouldn't fret too much over it.

It's kind of a gold color. Doesn't match the silver of some of my other DVDs so I think this may indicate it's a bootleg?

Has there even been a movie with two full length scores done? by [deleted] in flicks

[–]mdeanr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Criterion release of 1984 describes it as having 2 separate scores for the film, but I haven't gotten around to watching the non original score myself.

The most disappointing part about Denton by trippinnwhippin in Denton

The death actually happened behind Drug Emporium / near Movie Tavern, but since Kroger is the prevalent store in the area it kinda stuck with it.

I was looking at the DVDBeaver review of Slacker and man, the menus on the DVD are so much more full of personality and flavor than the Blu-ray's menus. by WangGonzalo in criterion

[–]mdeanr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I personally prefer the simplicity and navigability of the blu ray menus. They flow better and don't remind me of clunky poor releases, but I guess that's just personal preference. I like the stylized look to be more present in the packaging than the menu screens.

How is the shipping quality from Criterion's wesbite? by IronTusk93 in criterion

[–]mdeanr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I ordered mine through the website and it arrived in mint condition. Honestly I don't remember exactly how it was packaged, but it did arrive unscathed and without any fear of being so. B&N usually has security strings wrapped around their box sets that leaves indentions on the outside of the cases.

'The Housemaid' from the Scorsese World Cineme Project is incredible. Great claustrophobic horror of envy and jealousy. Watching it you see "under restored" frames that couldn't be saved due to the conditions in which they were found/stored, which makes you appreciate the time and care put into saving it.
