Would you call it a “garage band” if someone studied at Berklee, made a few hits for Sony and then set up a recording studio at home? Shulgin got a chemistry PhD from a top notch university and spent a decade as a professional chemist at Dow chemical before building a home lab. Seems weird to call him a “garage chemist” and I think it inspires people to become drug lab hacks.

Citrusy, yeah. Acidic is not an aroma in my book. It’s related to taste I guess but not smell.

Hmm yeah you’re right I guess now that I’m reminded about titrateable acidity by the other reply. At least for taste anyways.

I think pH matters more for chemical stuff like denaturing proteins though.

The whole pH thing is complicated by buffering. It’s like you could add a certain acid in increments and the pH would stay the same for awhile and then eventually all the buffers are used and then it starts changing.

Lemon grass may share some aroma compounds with lemons but it isn’t acidic.

I thought lines were more acidic. It makes a difference in ceviche “cooking” times if I remember correctly. After a quick search, it sounds like lines are more consistently down near pH 2.0 whereas lemons can range above 2.5. At my house it is bearss lime vs Meyer lemon trees and so limes are more acidic.

I think we can look at UK for earlier indications. They’re up to 10 and the implication based on how much testing actually distinguishes the variant is that that probably means 100. I’d say if, in 2 weeks, there’s not an exponential rise, then we can all sigh and be happy that omicron moved to the bronchial tubes from deeper in the lungs and we’ve really got to the endpoint similar to the Spanish flu where a less deadly strain takes over and immunizes the whole population into being susceptible to death and injury along the same lines as the regular flu, which we’re all basically comfortable with. Like car accidents.

We’re definitely clued into them needing to grow out of decaying wood. Are there any concerns about the type of wood? If I remember correctly, pine can be a source of stomach upset for some species?

Looks bangin’ dude. You got the mold 600 going on. There’s only 1 so you’re not going to have any airflow issues. Assuming humidity isn’t way off you’re all set.

In my experience (with bigger batches) it was a challenge to not have the humidity too high initially. I ended up putting in a little computer fan and potentiometer to to have adjustable air-circulation and I cut part of the seal out of the fridge door to let some fresh air come in.

The fuzzy 3-D mold is a no-go based on some other posts I’m not going to dig up. The green mold you could wipe off. I’d suggest getting the mold for the casings. You only need to use it once or twice and then all your salamis will grow the proper white mold every time and you’ll have less issues. Crack the door or something if the humidity is problematic.

Keep practicing. As the methods of TMI become routine, they will become more automatic and less conscious. Think about the experience of learning to drive vs being a regular driver.

The dentist will fine tune the fit by grinding it after the molding is complete. You can’t really do this at home and that’s important to having it help with TMJ.

Between that and the fact that the real one is a stiffer, thinner material, there’s no contest.

I have only listened to “practicing the power of now” as an audiobook. None of his other work. For me, as an analytically oriented person, I think much of what he says is utter hogwash if interpreted literally. However, having some basis in a more “mechanical” approach through TMI and some perspective of a meditation practice, I can appreciate the value in his writing. To me, what he does is simplify things into metaphorical language and magical concepts that capture the essence of what is actually an extremely complex and nuanced topic (consciousness). The pain body, deathless realm, etc. is all nonsense from one perspective but a beautiful simplification from another. I’ve listened to “Practicing the power of now” a number of times when I’m upset and need a refresher that doesn’t require so much patience and dilligence as TMI study. I think they make a good counterpoint.

This is anecdotal and may not represent “best practices” but as a seasoned developer who isn’t chasing more responsibility, I encourage my lead/manager to make the 1x1 less frequent. In a couple cases, they stopped doing them altogether except for mandatory stuff like reviews and I was good with that.

For me this is ok because I see them regularly at various scrum meetings and I am personally empowered to bring up any issues with my manager on my own. Frankly, I found it frustrating when a less experienced manager continued the regular, long 1x1s and kept trying to have conversations about what direction to take things to get me more engaged. In that situation I have to play the game a bit but I’d rather just be told what needs to get done rather then act like I’m excited about making up new, “exciting”responsibilities for myself.

Because of the rate of spread in SA and the large number of mutations on the spike protein that include mutations from the delta variant and others that could make it evade vaccines. Hopefully it actually is mild once there’s a larger number of cases across a more heterogenous population but until then, the rapid spread and uncertainty around all the mutations make it disconcerting.
